I been skateboarding off and on for a about 4 years or so, i'm able to do the basics very clean. My problem is when i was younger say 10 years to 15 years old i did not give a **** about geting hurt and there for i tried about anything, reason was my parents paid for all the medical crap. Now i just turned 18 and when i rolled up to a 6 foot ledge or anything bigger then a 4 set, i freak out. I'm on my own and have limited funds. I love skateing but can anyone give me some adivse on the best way to get over my fear of trying things like grinding big ledges, stair sets and doing things off big ledges?

ps. Sorry for bad grammer keyboard is ****ed.

usually the best way is to face your fear and just dont worry about getting hurt, more than likely if u think about getting hurt when u do something, youll end up thinking to hard about getting hurt, and u end up hurt

am i making any sense? :P

so just face your fear and go do it with confidence and without worrying about getting hurt.

just dont be over confident though.

Go with some homies or play some tunes.

What helped me is being able to ollie a set (a bit smaller than the one i am working up for) first try without any warm up, then once you get that down, try the big set.

There is spell check. *Sighs*
Jk..... no, not really.

Anyways, I gradually defeat fear. If you are scared of Ollieing a 6 set, hypothetically speaking, you start with a one, work up to 2, and so forth. Pretty soon it'll be time for a 6 step, and you do it like you did the last 5.

Sounds good? Damn right it does, go on and try it!

Be young :P

But really, just think about what it will feel like when you do land it or whatever. Just this week I learned to drop in and I learned to ollie onto/off of things. I just skated around the skatepark looking like a loser for 30 minutes before I did the drop in. I was finally just like screw it and jumped up on the ramp and dropped in. One thing I was scared about was manualing down and busting my ass, turns out I did manual down but it wasnt really steep so I made it.

Try not to think about the consequences.
If your scared of the hieght, try kicking the board away your 1st few trys to get used to the drop, then stomp it.

thanx for the tips, not really scared of the sets ledges, since when i was younger i stomped them easy. ( did get hurt alot) It's just the money issue that scares me, fall and break something, there goes my collage money lol.

You know why Canada has free medcare? It is an advertising ploy. Like how Burger King and McDonalds try to beat eachothers deals. Canada knows it sucks, so they have to offer free medcare to get people to stay. Haha. See, my best friends girlfriend is french canadian, and we pick on her terrible, so I am always quick with a Canada comeback.

Anyway, I just kick on some rockin tunes that help me get in the zone.

get used to the impact just by jumping with your feet with out board for a little while, then try with your baord and just air out to your feet. then if its a ledge with nothign infront of it try not to go to fast. go at the speed thats right. and try it out. you make it good job. you mess up a little, one more try. if not try in a few days.
