While I was cleaning my bearings in a plastic cup with pure acetone in it, I noticed some gel-like substance get stuck into my bearings, later I found out that it was the melted plastic that got into it. I tried scraping out the gooey stuff that got into my bearings but it wouldn't come out.

Are my bearings totally ruined or are there still hope in them?

Dude, All I just do is take denatured alcohol because some acetones will melt the plastic retainer when u clean them. Then after that i drain my bearings out of the container then blow dry them. After that take another container and fill it with isopryl alcohol then let is soak for 30 seconds to 40seconds. Then blow dry those bearings and just let it sit there after you dry them Next, Lube with bones speed cream. But is the plastic retainer is melted the one that holds the metal bearings in place, then yeah those bearings are toast. A picture would help.

The acetone didn't melt the retainer but the bits of melted plastic from the container in which i put the bearings in got into the bearings

oh!!! my b!!! but what kind of bearings are they? Also if they are in the bearings there are two ways to do this. 1. dissassemble the bearings by taking out the plastic retainer but be careful not to pry it out use a q tip to pop it out with the bearings facing you as in where the bearings are held in place with th retainer. 2. u can try to wash it down with rubbing alcohol if u need more advice message back on this forum.

Buy some average normal good sturdy factory made bearings. Put them in your wheels, go skate, stay out of water, and keep your board sheltered when you are not skating it.
