No one EVER made a concrete wheel. Where did you get that idea? There were clay wheels last time. Also, wheels are made from urethane. Not rubber. So I prefer urethane. And welcome to RampRage. It is a great place to be...

He must mean clay or urethane. I think in the Cro-Magnum days they did use rock wheels though.

I don't know Skaterat. From what I've heard, and correct me if I'm wrong, clay wheels would break really easy. Plus, anyone who types like that or live in a Tony Hawk game, probaly hasn't seen, let alone used a clay wheel.

So Sk8er-greg, if there was a "concrete" wheel for skateboarding, it would possibly be the worst invention to hit the scene. The wheels would make the board:

-Heavy
-Slower
-Increase friction
-Break easily when landing tricks (I want to see a 6ft drop landed on them)
-Shatter when riding
-Make and trick that includes a powerslide impossible (would stick so badly)

Not to mention, that feeling you get when you scrape your fingernails over a chalk board would be constant whenever you skated. Ughh, I don't even want to think about it.

OK Nova Bro, your wrong on just one of two counts. My first board in the late 60s, (OMG) had clay wheels. That's all there was after steel rollerskate wheels till the 70s. They were harder than shit, slow and would lock up on the tiniest pebble. Your no doubt right about homie here, has probably never skated on clay wheels before.

^^^It would also probably make a really rough ride. And you would stop and fall even if you hit a tiny rock.

That's right, the Flintstones used wheels carved out of rock !

My bad dude. I knew that clay wheels were pretty much the only option when it came to wheels for a bit, but I just remembered hearing that they would blow up after awhile.
Although, it's not like I've had any experience with clay wheels, lol.

Nowadays 90% of wheels are urethane so i am taking a gamble and am going to guess that they are urethane. I really don't think that anyone calls them concrete wheels, i think the guy you got the board off just didn't have a clue.

Where did you get this little fact?
There were concrete wheels in the early days, but I doubt anyone would ride them anymore.
