So I stuffed the stencil I did on my brand new Almost. I'm really pissed off about it, and I've actually never re-gripped a board, but I'm going to do so. I've had conflicting opinions but I just needed to know how the hell I'm supposed to pull off brand new griptape? I'm wondering if I can just put the new grip over it ...

Make sure though when you re-grip it you take the trucks off so you dont grip over your bolts.

cryptic, you could stencil your grip before you apply it

As previously mentioned, use a hairdryer to loosen up the adhesive on the tape, and it will peel off easier. Remove any residue left from the tape with nail polish remover or denatured alcohol before you apply new tape.
Please don't put new tape over the old stuff. It won't stick for long, if at all.
It can be a pain, unfortunately.

If you have power tools, just take off your trucks, re-grip and you're good to go.

Haha, oh dear, I can't believe I didnt think of the Hairdryer. I do that to get off all pain in the ass adhesives. You guys are fantastic, thank you. This'll be an experience.
I also didn't think of doing the stencil BEFORE I gripped the board. Sheesh, what a fecking dumbass. I can't believe I've never done it that way and still had the stencils turn out fine.
Thanks again, guys!

i usually just rip it off. it takes a while, and becomes painful, but in the end gets the job done. but i'll have to try this blowdrier method some time. do you just turn it on and just blowdry all over the grip and it becomes less sticky?

The adhesive gets softer, which lets you pull it off easier.
Blowdry in one area, and start pulling that area. work your way up.

Very well said.
Were you able to get the botched griptape off?

The Quickest way: Hit it with a coat of spray paint. The grip will fall right off.

I wish my decks lasted long enough to get them re-gripped

Some people just catch me at really off times, m'dear. That was one of them.
Hey, yeah, the grip peeled off like sunburn. I only had to hair-dry the nose to weaken the adhesive, and then I could just peel it all off from there. Wicked.
I had no idea about the spray paint thing. I'd have to try it.
Oh, and, the dude who said that he wished his decks would last long enough for him to re-grip (I can't be stuffed quoting you): I had the same thing. This was a brand new deck that I happened to screw the stencil up on, so I took my opportunity.

AHEM.... OWNED.
Yeah, take JP's suggestion. It works. Or a hairdryer.
PS. Hey JP. New sponsors eh?
