Yeah stand up for your self. Bitch slap that mo-fo and tell him whats what.

Seriously though that sounds a little harsh for skipping a bit of college. He might calm down after a day. If he doest then i don't know about your deck and that but if you don't take your piercings out then what is he going to do. Sneak into your room at night or something. Make a stand!

^^^Well, if his dad just took his board away, then his could just get a new one eventually, but if he's trying to stop him from skating(what it sounds like), than everyone, even you, would be pissed.

Nova, your right, but chill. Yeah he's 16 and should act a bit more mature about it. Your dad wants what he thinks is the best for his you, but in reality, only you know. Don't let him change you, but don't take your parents for granted. Couldn't you move onto campus though? There he couldn't bother you.

No offence, but college is much more important than skating.
Remember, your father is just trying to help you. Why in the world would the want to harm you in any way?

If your 16, living at home, being supported by him, and he's paying for your college, he does have a right to voice his opinion even if you don't like it. He is only looking out for your best interest in the way he knows how. Do you have an open dialect with him ? Talk to him about it. If missing some college affected your grades, it's not good. My son and I are very close, but if I was, (and soon will be) paying for his college, tuition, books, ect... I'd be pretty bummed if he was neglecting his education. I'm guessing this did affect your schooling 'cause he was informed about your absence by someone. Talk to him about it. Work out some kind of deal. Schooling and skating can work without neglecting either.

Guys, China's right.

School is more important than skating. It might seem like school is stupid and won't get you anywhere in life, but it sure will help you later on. I mean, college helps you with getting a good job. Being a ****ing pro may make money, but what if you can't skate and you don't have an education?

Stay in school.

honestly i don't agree with that. they're completely different so i don't think they should be compared. true college is more important job wise and supporting yourself with a decent job, but i think that the most important thing in life is enjoying it, which skating helps me do. honestly why are we here? if we work our ass off all our life just to die and then nothing happens to us after that then what did all that hard work really do for us? my view on life is to enjoy it and if skating does that for you then i believe that really is the most important thing. college and work is just something that needs to be done in order to be able to do the skating. two ways to look at it but either way he's being a little harsh, that is if he's actually serious about all of that.

EVERYONE I'D LIKE TO ANNOUNCE SOMETHING VERY IMPORTANT TO THIS THREAD

In the UK, (where Mark comes from as well as i) college is the stage before university. You go to college after finishing secondary school, at the age of 16. You finish at 18 (can be 19 sometimes) and then go onto Uni.

College is free. Uni isn't. Secondary School gets you into College. College gets you into Uni.

Just thought i'd clear that up.

OK, now it all makes a little more sense. Thanks for the insight Dave. That's of course what we call High School over here across the pond.

Well what would you compare skateboarding to? Rollerblading? It's not like one is more important than the other. Yes you can enjoy life, but I'd rather have a roof over my head at night and a meal to eat; opposed to being homeless and skating without shoes.

yeah, he is just looking after my schooling , i mean the course im taking wont really get me anywhere anyway. the qualifications that i get from this course wont be anymore than the graphics i produce anyway. its just something to do to keep them happy. and tbh with the graphics adobe and 3D side of things im pretty much teaching the teacher. my rents dont really pay for anything for me for college. if they were paying i'd pay 100 % attendance.

i've worked it out now. had a hair cut :( dammit, carrying on at college going to attend 100% just gota earn my board back soon hopefully. got a bit of work to catch up on.
was just really really angry at the time i wrote it, my skateboard is like my air really. walking doesn't even feel right anymore.

I admit I took it a bit far, but I'm sick of kids going, "Oh, my dads so mean, he won't give me/do this." I'm not saying you were saying that, but a lot of kids do.
It pisses me off.
Be glad he cares.
