Well last year I didn't do too well in school(I didn't do horrible either) so at the beginning of the year my dad said that if Icould maintain a 70% average the entire year he would buy me a PS3, or an Xbox 360 or a dv cam equal to the price of the PS3 and so far so good. So I was just wondering what you guys would get, I myself am leaning toward the PS3.

My dads pretty cool, the reason he bet it was because he didn't think I would actually do it because I'm a big time slacker but so far I've been in and around 73% so ya, he's also getting me a small car to dive because I'm getting my license in like a month.

He doesn't usually get me squat like I pay for 90% of most of the things I want shoes, decks ect. and this is the first time I've ever gotten anything for doing well. Anyway I figure it like this, which one am I gonna get the most usage out of, most likely its the PS3 because I'm only gonna use the camera for filming and thats only on nice days when I skate, even though I don't play much video games and I get bored of games quite quickly I would still use the PS3 more. It's not a 100% decision yet but it's what I'd most likely get. I'm saving up for a new cam at the moment even though I don't got much money yet.

your lucky man my parents are crazy strict about marks my mom was gunna make me do english in summer school if i got lower that 70%. but the problem with me is that instead of doing work so that i can become smarter and have a future i would rather go on ramp rage or skate so my average is like 75%-83%. to awnser your question ps3 is like 700$ so you could just get a 360 and a cheaper camra i dont know much about filming but from what i know about games the ps3 isnt that good cause alot of the games on ps3 are coming for 360

ok dude the ps3 and the x-box360 only last 18months then the chips burn out on them that is what the little lights around the power button mean so personally a £500 camera sounds like a much wizer and proberly more benificial idea to be honest with u. but this is only my oppinion dont take what i just sed as i am telling you wat to do

Actually no, I usually get squat for Christmases Birthdays ect. This year for christmas my highlight was like a $20 headset, and I almost always get used skate decks, my parents don't like to buy me stuff so I have to pay for almost all my shit.

Paying for your stuff is normal. I buy everything for myself except food. I have to pay for minibuses for my band playing in towns which we can't get to on public transport. The idea they would give me an expensive console for turning up or doing well in college is ridiculous.

Umm, no offense to any of you guys, but you guys aren't half of the game freak I am. I've had everything from the Classic NES to the 360, I was a sponsored gamer, sponsored by Google and was Scion player of the month.

I know, from firsthand experience, that PS3 is a piece of shit. Penus3 has more Hardrive space true, but developers hate making games for it due to the "cool" six-axis controller feature, so there is going to be a ton of better games out for the 360 and Wii that PlaySatan misses out on.

Also, because of all the money Sony spends on advertising and not really give a shit about games, it is probably going to pick up the same crappy frame rate issues that PS2 had. You have seen previews for some PS3 games, none of which were gameplay at all, just fancy Cinematography.

PS3 online is free, while Xbox360 is $50 a year. What a small small price to pay to have soooo much fun. Just because it's free DOES NOT mean it will be better at all. Salvation Army gives their clothes for free, I'd still rather go buy it from the mall, anyday.

Overall, Xbox360>Wii>PS3. That's a damn known fact when it comes to true hardcore gamers. Anyways, I feel like I added tension to this thread by making it such a big deal, but it annoys me how everyone just slightly leans to the PS3 because it's so much "cooler".


Anyways, That's cool dude. I had an overall 3.9 GPA last year, I got a complimentary field trip, but nothing from my parents really. Just a pat on the back. I would go with the Camera, since I already own a 360, hate the PS3, and look forward to filming some videos soon.

Ya I don't care much about the motion sensor thing on the ps3, and to tell you the truth my standards are not very high for videogames, all I really play is skateboarding games, sports games and racing games, I was leaning toward the ps3 because my friend says its really fun for sports and racing games, and with ea skate coming out thats another reason(although I assume its also coming out for xbox) I'm still a little teared though between the three, and a new camera would also be quite nice.

Ya BTW I'm not strictly looking for gameplay I'm also interested in the blue ray player and the ability to put on music and videos and pictures(I don't know if you can do this or not for the 360 so don't hate) Also you were saying companies aren't going to make games because of the 6 axis thing, this is just an option for games, so it's not necessary for every game therefore I don't see a problem. I'm not a big fan of either but the features of the ps3 seem to outdue the 360.

That is absolutely incorrect. Sony stole the gameplans and the features of the one and only Sega Dreamcast, took it's blueprints for the structure and the great graphics it had. They then, completely wiped Sega out the map.

Stupid dickwads, Dreamcast was an excellent game console, truly ahead of its time.

Next point.

The whole thing with the 6-axis being optional is wrong and right at the same time. Yes, it is optional, but seeing as how developers hate having to meld that in with the system, is going to mean alot of them would just ignore it.

Therefore making the 6-axis feature completely useless in the first place. So you see my friend, the tough part is incorporating that stupid ass crap into an already good game. Feature wise, it obviously outdues the 360, no doubt.

I don't buy a game console, for the ****ing features it has. I buy a game console for the games, and then enjoyment I can get out of the GAMES, not features.

For example, I bought a PSP (Decided to give it a try) I had a blast using the music and videos and all that good stuff. Then I thought to myself, WTF, I want to play games, not have an Ipod. The games are ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!

You can't get an online connection unless you have a wireless router, and even if you manage this, the Internet is slow as shit! Just like the Gaystation3, it is going to have the gayest games ever.

Resistance : Fall of Man, the only hyped up launch title for Sony, crash and burned miserably! The 300 player online thing didn't work out so great either. Since there is barely ever 300 people in one server,(for now at least)The gigantic maps are just going to have to due for 10 people. Bad huh? Also, the lag is amazingly shitty! The promised 1 million consoles went down to 400,000, and only in the U.S!

I'm done with this thread. Unless some fool completely infuriates me by saying something like "S0nY is TEH r0xz0rRrz! It owns teh Nintindo C0mpanee." Which I doubt anyone will do, it will be followed by a 3 page report by me, on why not to do that.
