said a kid came in today, and was really excited about buying his first " proper " setup.

he had some sort of spider man board to begin with. anyway the kid said he had £60 to spend which is around $80 i think, not sure. So he gets a powell dannywainwrite board, and some crap trucks and blank wheels, and he said yeah thats it, my friend was like " son, you gotta buy some bearings or its not going to work" and the kid said give me the bearings which were on my old board, and my friend was like " i dont know what bearings you had " and the kid replied ABEC 1'S and that there really good and really fast. haha, my friend offered him abec 3's the lowest because no-where has 1's. dumb kid, was kinda funny

Well gee, I don't know about you, but I sure as hell didn't start out a ****ing maniac at skating. Everybody has a starting point, so cut some slack on the kid. On a side note, I know the Spiderman board you're talking about. :D

Actually, abec 1's do exist. I have a set from my friend.

yeah, i know they exist, but there like 608zb's if you know what they are.

in other words bearings that wont do a full rotation without stopping, i think he must of been fairly old. dunno lol was funny

On the shield it says 608zz. I've ridden them before, they suck. I can find the biggest hill arouind my place, and yet going down I constantly need to push top maintain minumum speed. Now I only use them for experimenting with lubes and all.

It's possible to make abec 1's fast. Just properly clean them, or run them under a tap(If it doesn't matter to you), and just don't relube them with anything afterwards. This is dangerous though, if you're gonna be riding them, especially at high speeds, because just a tiny rock can stop the bearings from spinning with just about the same effects as wheelbite. If you just want them to spin a bit faster, then clean and relube them with speed cream or something, but I would really wouldn't be wanting to waste some good lube.

The kid does have some truth when he said his abec 1's were good.

My first board was a spiderman board...I still have it somewhere out in the shed. Old school shape, big ass blue flimsy wheels, trucks made out of some kind of weird plastic. Pretty much all that I did in those days was ride around and kick around on a wooden quarter pipe that had holes and cracks all over it. Those where the days
