To get higher, put your front foot back farther towards your back foot. This looses some control. If you put it farther up, you get less ollie but more control. Thats what I was taught. Just work on it. :)

not necassarily... i dont put my front foot more back to go higher, every ollie i do whether im doing gaps, decks, stairs, etc. with 5 ft. drops, 4 decks stacked verically, 1 deck on its wheels, i always put my front foot right next to or on the back front bolts. Its just the matter of jumping higher with the ollie and pulling ure knees up and evening out the board at the right time. You have to know how ure board reacts to every action of your pop and movement of ure feet.
P.S. tweaking the ollie just a bit may get you further up and some props

just pull your knees up higher, not too high though or you'll lose control of the board and won't be able to land.

Put your back foot half hanging off the tail and pop it hard with your front foot in the middle of the board and pop it as hard as you can and bring your legs up as high as you can.

you should be doing ollies on pretty much all your tricks...just put alot of effort into your skating...ie hours...and they will improve...set goals...push alittle harder and harder each day.

ok i think this is the prob with my ollies. ok i have a mini darkstar and i can usaaly get 2in on average and my little neighbor got a birdhouse and i got about 7-8 in on my first oliie on thta thing! i think my board is a vert and/or really heavy. what u guys think?

dude, birdhouse boards are vert boards with no concave, usually.

theres no such thing as vert board! unless we're talking about the huge 8.5" + decks vert riders use but there is no such thing as a general vert board. Birdhouses has little concave (thats true) but they have crazy pop. im talkin solid pop. theres its only good point. From there birdhouse are heavy, flips crappy, and are weak! It sounds as if I'm stereotyping and i am because my friend had a "street" guy (willy santos) Birdhouse deck that snapped on an ollie over a foot long gap!

the reason you can get pop on your neighbors is caz your board probly lost all its pop or dint have any to begin with, where your neighbor probly dont use his too much so it's still got a lot of pop.

Probably because it's a mini. Minis have a limited amount of landing space on them and it's easy to get popped in the ass with them. I would suggest getting a powell mini logo.

i usually put my front foot right next to the middle, so if you drew a line in the middle of the deck, the inside of my front foot would be just touching the line. and my back foot is pointing just a little bit outwards and the ball of my foot is centered over the tip of the tail. i find this foot position gives a good balance of leverage for pop, control and stability. just jump higher and pop harder to ollie higher and jump lower and pop less to do a more controlled ollie for bigger gaps and stuff

pop tail, slide front foot, and jump at the same time.

AnimalChin: I have an idea as well. Why don't you get off of Snaker's back? This is not the first time I've seen you on someone elses case. You might try one of the following:
1) Posting helpful, or positive information.
2) Getting your @$$ off ramprage, and learning to skate, instead of dissing on other people's skill. Alright? The first time I was nice, but I'm getting sick of this. Just pray that I don't find another like this, since I'm skimming over the boards right now...
About the front foot position. One of my best ollie positions, is right behind the front truck bolts. I'm just used to it there. Of course, if you're talking physics, then putting your foot further towards the middle would work- depending on your form. If you put your foot in the middle, or further back, then you will "pull" the board higher, right? Well, if your back foot does not go up as well, it's not going to be any higher. Putting my back foot further just messes me up. My tip would be to just practice it, and bend your knees more when you bend down, have more confidence, and last but not least- suck your legs up when you ollie!

yeh i find that the best position for an ollie is with your front foot a few inches back from the front bolts. if you watch vids andrew reynolds, he always has his foot there, even when hes ollieing up like 3 ft gaps.

If u put ur foot back more it really only helps ur keeping ur weight over the board and getting the tail up but ollieng higher is about hanging ur back foot off and jumping when u pop ur tail. mini boards dont make ne difference.
