Hey guys,

Myself and the rest of the leadership have been kicking around the idea of putting together a podcast. Roughly 20-30 minutes long, covering announcements, shout outs, community and national skate news, User Q&A, etc etc.

This project is in the infant stages of planning and right now and I'm looking for input and volunteers.

Big issue I would like feedback on now is weather it should be:

1. A straight Podcast(Audio) ~ Easier to produce and download.
2. Vodcast~ Video on demand is sexier, but could be a logistical nightmare to get out on any regular basis.
3. Or a mixture of both ~Audio Podcast with link/s to small video features.

So make your selection in the poll and post your feedback and questions.
If you would like to be a part of the project, please list what skillz you can bring to the game.

peace.

Considering a Podcast would download much more quickly, I'd love that. Not to mention, I could also listen to it while I'm browsing the forums.

vodcast all the way

Either would be cool but a regular podcast would be a much lower hassle, whatever you guys decide is fine with me. I would prefer a bit of both.

I would say a mixed version .
Both Video and Audio .

My vote would be for the mix combo with the audio version being the norm, post on whatever regular bases you guys are considering and then using the vid portion as a special feature snippit, highlighting important announcements, events and so on that the audio version talked about. The video portion could be something you do when a topic requires a visual back up like learning an otherwise difficult trick or a clip of a pro-skater that decided to say hello to Ramprage's people or whatever... So on a regular basis, the podcast would be expected and then on key moments, a video would tag along...

FrSt , what does the podcast's have on them ?
Like tips or just people skating or what ?

a vodcast would be pretty awesome.

if its too much work then maybe you should do podcasts weekly and then vodcasts maybe monthly...that would probably satisfy everybody.

05-06-2007, 02:32 PM
id say both.

for people who need it fast you could go with just the audio.
if you have more time you could go with both. say people with slow computers and some with fast ones.

video always makes it look better, but its the file size for me.

Both. It seems to me that some things would be better to have on video but lots would work with just audio.

Were putting together an audio podcast...everything pertaining to the local ramprage community and national skate scene...it's an mp3... We will also have links to small video features. So if you have some good trick tips put together..pm me a link so I can see if it can be used.

how do we get it onto our ipods or w/e? is it going to be on itunes or on ramprage itself

Ok, it looks like we will be doing the audio/video mix.

Now all we need is a handful of motivated users to help.

Looking for people interested in hosting segments of the podcast and anyone interested in contributing on the video side of the house...tricktip and whatnot.

Only big restriction is users under 16 need not apply for the audio portion. We may be a little more flexible on the video side of the house.

Looking for Graphic artist and video editors to.

If anyone has a good or funny skate story, record it audio or video and send it to me for review...(send link via pm)

I'm planning on having the first cast out by mid June.

Already have one that will be helping with that audio hosting but we need more people...any takers???

Good deal! Do me up a 2 to 3 min audition. Read the skate news out of a mag or tell an interesting story (skate related) Then pm the link to your mp3 or wav file. Were looking for 4 or 5 members to host. We already have one member locked down for the intro and announcements...maybe more. All the host will probably rotate jobs once we get this thing to a steady stage.

anyone else interested to host...do the same^^

Sweet. I could do a 360 flip trick tip definately. Cool, go for it and pm the link to the vid when your done.

Peace.

danielb

I know it won't take that long to do, but it will take a week to have a convenient time span to record without interruption or backround noise.

Needs more participation...If people don't want to get involved...it's not worth having.

I would if, but it would be ridiculous on dial up. As soon as I get high speed I'll be down. If you want though, I could do reports on... stuff. When I put my mind to it, I have a decent flair with writing. Let me know if this would help.

I'll definately help out, but can i sign up for post June time? I'm about to take my A2 exams to get into University and i dont have a lot of spare time on my hairs.

same here. i still have finals and studying is a bitch right now. i'd like to make some audio things but i don't have a mic, nor a camera right now. i'll definatly do something during the summer though. i'm sure people will get involved but i think you should hold this off for another month or so.

Freaky Styley
05-20-2007, 02:15 AM
Good deal guys..were pushing the first cast back to July.

giantsfan7791
05-20-2007, 03:14 AM
that'll work. the summer will free up everyone so i don't think you'll have a problem with a lack of participation. i'm not too sure on what i'm going to do yet, maybe you should post a list of catagories?

first of all, i would say do a mix. Great idea though. This might get people to realize what potentials that they have in some categories. I could mabye do a trick tip for ollies or shove its or something like that. I dont land my other tricks clean enough yet. I get frontside 180s really well though. It would sound weird because im only 14 and my voice didnt change yet. Mabye i could send in a video and you could have someone else do the voice.

sk83rb0y
06-02-2007, 08:26 PM
alright i got the footy for a frontside 180. Ill just edit it a bit and send it to you. Should i get a footy of my friend doing a backside 180? Or i could just add on to it and include half and full cabs?

Freaky Styley
06-03-2007, 01:25 AM

well Josh, the summer is here so i'm guessing people will have more free time. assuming we have good participation, can we expect this idea to start going into motion anytime soon? we could also try live shows with cellcasting, that way users can just call into the show and talk. obviously you don't want just anyone calling. you can get more members to join by stating that only ramprage users will recieve the phone number to call in. if you need, i can pm you some stuff on how to make podcasts. just let me know, i'll help any way i can.

McJesus

I'd like to do a trick tip for ollies or something simple, ollie north, bs flip, half cab flip. I just want to know which trick and approval Josh.

giantsfan7791
06-27-2007, 04:39 PM
well, Josh still hasn't been on but i figured i would do what i can know to help get this rolling. I wrote a VERY rough template of what the first podcast could be like, of course Josh would change this however he sees fit:
______________________________

1. Opening
1. Comments by co-hosts on current state of Ramprage.com, the forums, podcast, etc. Also ask members/listeners for help on a theme song for the podcast.

2. News (quick overview)
1. Officer Joey Williams of the Hot Springs, Arkansas Police Department, uses excessive force during the false arrest of five teenage skateboarders. June 21, 2007 (Go Skate Day) video - www.youtube.com/v/EH6AYVn2yw4
2. Briefly start on calling into podcast and how to contribute. Also mention videocast.

3. Announcements
1. Introduction of co-hosts and podcast.
2. Mission statement for podcast
3. Talking about Ramprage.com and it's forums
4. Mention any upcoming Skateboarding events, competitions, etc.
5. Talk about goals and ideas for upcoming podcasts
6. Talk about possible interviews with skaters
7. Announce the member of the month over at ramprage.com/forums (just an idea)

4. News Discussion (more indepth)
1. Main Discussion - Police brutality, specifically "Officer" Joey Williams. Also talk about the public view of skaters and ways to improve that image. (idea to build on through podcast and forums)

5. Trick Help (voicemails)
1. Users call in and leave voicemails on very specific/uncommon problems and we shall do our best to help.

6. Stories (also from voicemails)
1. Listen to whatever interesting stories or ideas that skaters have encountered.

7. Chicken Soup (the sappy stuff, more voicemails)
1. Listen to how skateboarding has helped/changed somebody's life in a positive way. (everyone who skates has a story, this will be for the most touching ones.)

8. Closing/Contact Information
1. Contact info
2. Info on how to contribute to podcast
3. (insert here)

9. Ending Theme
1. Possibly a competition for listeners to submit songs for theme, play one every episode and vote on RR. (original content only, no copyrighted music)
_______________________________
tell me what you guys think of this.

EDIT: oh, i'm more inretested in the audio portion, i turn 16 on July 7. at the rate things are going, i should be good by then.

also found this. it's pages long but looks real good so far.

http://www.informit.com/articles/article.asp?p=605039&rl=1

obviously, we wouldn't want to keep showing these drafts but i don't think the podcast will get real "serious" till the 3rd or 4th episode. the first two would be more "test" podcasts.
