So skateboardings about fun eh?

Well I started skating and I used to skate down my road for the whole summer. (then winter came and i stopped live in UK btw)

So then last summer I was introduced to a park called 'Wandle Park' its a general park and has a skate section which sucks load of ramps which arnt all that great as they would be in US. Anyway I just used to skate flat there didnt do many ramps if any at all because I just dont like them so I used to go about my business to become good at flatland stuff (not not Mullen tec stuff just normal flat tricks) but what is annoying me is that the people there keep telling me to do this that and the other? what happened to learn at your own pace etc?

So usually I would just tell them I don't want to, today I finally got to skate really bad weather here for a few days but today was ok (or I should say yesterday) until the end of the day I was having fun doing what I was doing just trying to throw some lines in and just do the things that I can do. One of the guys that skates there was really hasseling me to do whatever on ramps which I don't like I told him I don't want to because I don't like ramps and I prefer street sort of stuff. He then retorted 'Why are you here then' my real answer would have been 'Because this is the only skate park unless you think Im going all the way to London, and theres nowhere else to skate'

But I decided not to say much because everyone would have taken his side so I ended up trying to do some stuff on a few flatbeds didn't enjoy it tbh.

What I don't get is why is it they keep telling me what to do, its like they have forgotten that skateboarding is for fun and this isnt the first time it's happend I always seem to get forced to do this and that yet one of their closer friends barley does anything and he doesnt get called a ***** or anything its like they hate me there when I havnt done anything I don't go around trying to act cool or anything of the sort.

Sorry to blabber on but heres my question what do you think I should do? Theres one place called Fairfield and its like a street spot mainly people doing flatland and few blocks to grind and some stair sets but the problem is I only know one of the people who skates there and he says no one forces anyone to do anything because everyone learns at their own pace but I don't want to end up going there and then just have a repeat of what happens at this skate park I go to now because then I won't have any other place to skate?

Also if anyones had similar problems like this what did you do about it???

Thanks ;)

They do it because it's 'human nature'. I don't really know, but stuck-up kids like those at your skatepark just want to see people that are new to a area of skating do worse than them. (no offence to you)
My advice to you is just give it a try. If they keep bugging you, just igore them. Revenge is best

Yeah I'll have to do some 'trial n error' tbh I might go to the street spot and see how it is there because the regulars at this skate park are bloody annoying theres only one guy I get along with....plus theres like a bunch of scene kids there that don't even posses a board.

Thanks for the advice anyway and I'm pretty bad at ramps so no offence taken ;)

Just shake it off and give em' a couple hospital and casper flips to shut them up .

They're Sagitterieses. like, they were born in December. and dont argue with ppl at a SkatePark. just say u wanna do wht ur tryin first, then u'll do the ramps.

plus with corprate advertising comes clones; people following dead end trends, and not Skating for the pure pleasure of Skating. so I say **** em. Skate how you want.

Forward Flips lol I saw the vid on Transworld......pretty messed up trick but I'm going to give it a try now you mentioned it :D

But yeah I don't think I have to show them tricks to shut them up it just irritates me that they think there some sort of trainers of the park every newcomer that comes in gets told to try things there not confortable with....plus most of them cant do much on flat anyway not even a basic pop-shuvit yet just because theres ramps at the park they think they can run their mouths.

It doesnt really matter if theres ramps there right? It doesn't mean you HAVE to skate them....the only reason I go to that place is because theres no other place to skate besides the one I mentioned which I might go to once the weather gets better here.

Thanks for the advice so far ;)

I suggest you go to that other spot and don't return to your older one until you get better so you can show those dumbasses up.

^^ Uh noo !
that means he cares if some guys are pestering him about ramps and if you do listen to that guy and go to London to skate just because of that , then your a douch .

Mabey there just trien to be helpfull like when i first started i would skate to th local park (nuthing big about 50 by 50 ft. with the usual mini, sum fun boxes ect.) and the skate gaurd would come out and have me try stuff like olling the flatof a fun box and after a good few tries i got it so i think learning at ur wn pace might take longer to gt better then being helped

No really....why go to a skatepark and skate flatground?

If you want to skate flatground, just skate your driveway or street and stay out of everyone's way.

Hmm, seems you got yourself in a little pickle. Don't get angry if they're telling you what to do. Just go ahead and try new stuff. It'll do you good. Theres no reason gettin all p'd cos some people are telling you off. Its life

Because the average driveway does not have manuel pads and skateslick concrete .

Stick up for yourself. People respect that. If they push you around, and you let them, it will only get worse. I hate to say it.

I dont know about that. I guess it probably depends on the person but usually if you stick up for yourself then they start a fight.

Miniflipkid is right.

There are lots of places that have manual pads and/or slick concrete.

Well down here in England our front drives arnt as big as up in US, plus the concrets all messed and I like to be around people whilst skating as it motivates me to skate myself. I also did not mention that this 'Skate Park' is origonally a BMX park the only thing that can be skated on is the flat-beds which I do (did) enjoy a bit.

Also in general the people were idiots they had a problem with me for no apparant reason.

Don't want to sound like a whining bitch but parks down here arnt how they are up at US this one in particular is extremly small about 8 main ramps.

Anyhu I have decided to go to the street spot I guess you could say and its much more welcoming there, the locals there are pretty sweet and understand that everyone goes at their own pace I havnt been asked to do anything at all since I have been going there so I'm pretty much sorted.

Thanks.

If they arent that good at flatground, just do a few tricks, and show 'em.

But if not, I would just ignore them, and say that you're not going to do the ramp stuff, or that youre not comfortable.
