i was just messing around today because i was tired and i set up a little 'skateboard hurdle' where your board goes under the hurdle and you jump over it and then you land back on your board and roll away. well i started off quite low and i just managed it but when i to the the height of about 2 decks, as i jumped the bard just went backwards as i jumped causeing me to fall over and smash in2 the hurdle which hurts... so how the hell do you do these without making your board go behind you? any help will be apprieated;)

you gotta jump straight up and you'll actually go forward.
btw, that's extremely oooold school. they called it high jump and i've seend this guy jump like the height of his shoulders over one. the first skateboarding contest ever was high jump. me and my friends call it a hot dog, we usually do it over freestanding rails and stuff.

yeh these are fun to mess around with, doing 180s and 360s and stuff. the real name is back to the future, but i just call it a rail hop. to stay on the board better, move your feet to the back of the board, so your back foot is on the tail and your front foot is right in front of the back bolts, then just jump straight up.

steve barnes (really old school skater) says it's called high jump in the On Video Winter 2002, the one with rodney mullen on the front. it's got this main article thing called Rodney Mullen: From The Ground Up, and steve barnes talks about how freestyle started and how people used to do high jump

it doesnt really matter what its called. i mean, rodney mullen called the kickflip a magic flip when he first invented it. just call the trick whatever you want to call it.
