I'm not sure, I always thought they were just the same thing but different names.

it's called a primo. people who started skating before tony hawk 3 call it primo. and i can't wait for the handful of people that disagree with me.

i did my first switch heel to primo today, i remember when that used to happen when i was learning regular heels, you'd land smack and just hold it. always pretty funny.

Primo is a railstand moving like a railstand slide...railstand is stationary...

Yeah it likes men? It's what it is...standing on the rail of your board.

there is no rail on a skateboard. a skateboard is a deck trucks wheels bearings hardware and grip. you skate a rail, but your board does not have a rail.

umm,i'm pretty sure it's called a railstand because your standing on a very thin part, much like standing on a rail. besides, the name doesn't hold much merit anyway. otherwise, varial flips should be called kickflip pop-shuvits since the varial is an aerial manouver using your hands.

its called a friggin primo, the other way is a reemo. but who cares your board goes side ways, you landed primo for instance. the whole rail stand thing is stupid, where do you get the name rail stand from, there is no rails on a board, the only metal parks is trucks, bolts, and bearings....

I got this from Wikipedia.
Primo Slide
This is a Railstand but done while moving, so you slide along the ground on the side of your board. Named for its inventor, Primo Desiderio. For added style you can turn the board 90 degrees while sliding doing sort of a Primo Power Slide from there you can do any trick you want to get out of it, flips, spins etc.
Railstand
A Railstand is when one edge of your board is on the ground and you are standing on the other, usually with your feet also on the wheels. From this position you can do many tricks, including flips, 180s, 360 Spins and combinations of the above (landing into another railstand if you wish), landing into casper, into 50/50 / Truckstand etc. A Heelside Railstand is to stand on the board in railstand, with your griptape facing your back, and Toeside is the reverse. There are several ways to get into Heelside Railstand as opposed to the limited ways, if not just one way of getting into Toeside Railstand. A common variation of a railstand is a cooper stand, which is a rail stand with one foot on a wheel, and the other on the nose. While in Railstand, the limit to what you can do is almost non existent. You do not have to just flip. You can varial the board under you so it spins without flipping, you can stand on one wheel, on one foot and kick the board forwards or backwards so it spins around the one wheel.
I think that a Reemo is a Toe Side Primo Slide. Re(e)verse Primo

stationary is a railstand, moving is Primo, & THPS made up Reemo.
but a rail, back in the day was screwed on both sides of the deck, to create better slides & easier grabs.

lets face it...they're both pointless and stupid tricks unless done to the extreme in a Rodney Mullen fashion =]

I can't do either but the Primo looks SOOOOOOOO sick. Especially with a flip trick into it. Like in your head picture a TRE-FLip into a Primo Grind. thats what i call a Wet Day Dream. LOL

AlmostJeff and Dr._Skate are right.
Railstand - standing in rail
Primo - sliding in rail
Reemo - imaginary
The rail is generally thought to be the edge of your board, regardless of whether you actually have plastic "rails" screwed on or not.
You really should've searched for this topic before making this thread. We've covered it countless times and it really doesn't matter what the hell you call a trick. Unless you're a freestyler, just stop talking about freestyle. Stop calling it ugly. Don't be so oppressive of other skaters who just want to do what's fun to them instead of what looks cool to the slutty ***** girls who hang out above the bowls in skateparks.

Where Im from They're called "to rails"
Ex: "Dude that to rail tre-flip was awesome"
OR
Ex: That rail slide was awesome.
Also thePrimo and reemo just sound like TS (toeside)( Toes face the griptape) and HS (heelside) (heels face the griptape)
