So today I was down the skatepark having a usual session. My mate told me to try a kickflip into the rollin. The rollin is 7ft and leads to a jumpbox. I try an ollie first, landing at the top of the curve so I don't bail. Having ollied succesfully I try a fakie bs 180; fine. Then a flip, then a nollie. So I had a few good tricks down. Later, after a relaxed game of 'horse' ('skate', whatever) which I lost by alot and a sit down, I try to show another mate the fakie 180 into the rollin. I don't get the full rotation and the next thing I now I'm skidding across the ground on my knees and hands. I cut my knees and jeans and it hurt like a bitch.
So after a sit down and a drink of water I do some simple flat ground tricks then build up to skating the funbox. After a few attemps at a boardslide along a rail/thin ledge which I hadn't tried before, I nail myself. I loose my balance and fall onto my knees and hands, bruising my shin as it hits the ledge.
I now realise I should have built up into trying the hard tricks again. I wasn't warmed up enough. Having already hurt myself that day I think I was stupid to try te boardslide, especially as I haven't done a boardslide for months, let alone on a downward sloping rail.
I learnt my lesson. Anyone got any similar stories?
