View Full Version : Need Advice on Trucks, Bearings + Wheels

Okay, pretty much everything but the deck.

So my current trucks have been giving me some issues (anyone ever heard of slide trucks?). The back truck has been feeling wobbly for some time, and (I think) it started to give me ankle pain when I rode, probably from having to constantly adjust to match the wobble. When I ride the skateboard backwards (fakie), it's noticeably harder to keep the board going straight. Tried tightening the truck, doesn't seem to help much. Also, there's a couple of rubber thimble cap-like things in the baseplate groove that have been worn down to the point where they have holes at the top. Could that be the source of the wobble? Could I go out and buy new "thimbles" for cheap at most skateboarding stores? Otherwise, I'm planning on buying some new trucks...

Also, I took my board apart recently to clean and take a look, and while I was doing that I noticed that one of the washers is bent in a couple spots around the outer lip, going upwards towards the bearing. Will this affect my ride significantly? Is it easy to find stores that sell sets of washers? How cheap are they (again, buying from a store, not online)?

Lastly, I noticed my wheels are starting to degrade a bit...the rubber or whatever has "pores" that are opening up on the surface. Is that normal for old wheels, or is it a sign that I should get new ones?

Thanks in advance for the help!
