Hi,

Just got the parts for a skateboard. I have a 7.75 inch deck, 54 mm wheels and Independent 129 Low trucks. I have a pair of risers aswell should I bother installing them?

You don't really need them but you can if you want.

No, unless you ride your trucks really loose.

they only help as there are no cons to using them. they absorb some impact shock to help prevent pressure cracks. plus, they help your knees too. if you have them, you might as well put them on. it's not that hard to put them in, i requires very little effort. i always tell people not to bother buying them unless needed but if they get/have then put them on.

If you decide to use the risers, just put them on the deck, and then the trucks on top of the risers so the truck baseplate sits evenly on each riser. I encourage you to not use them if your mounting hardware that holds your trucks on aren't long enough to accomodate the risers. You want the nylon in each nut to get threaded down each bolt.

Some people like risers, some don't, and perhaps the size of wheels you skate and how loose/tight you adjust your trucks would play a role in your choice, too. Try it with the risers, and without, and see what arrangement you like better.

Have fun.

Well thats all bullshisse. For one thing they let ur hardware go sideway, coz its not flush with the Deck. which means pressure cracks come easier. and knees? knees? your shoes do more than and pad could ever do. this one lil 1/4" piece of plastic aint gonna do anything when you land a 10 set. But it will make ur Deck higher, so its harder to flip (like taller trucks) duuuh.... this is all known from experience btw, not taking wild imaginative educated guesses....

well, it's not too hard to make sure that you line something up right, therefore reducing pressure cracks. when it comes to your knees, any help should be taken regardless of how slight it is. and trucks being a quarter inch higher will be negated if one cell in your foot works harder to get the flip. by the way, you contradicted yourself by saying "wild imaginative educated guesses".
