Anybody know how to fix some messed up bearings? someone threw my board in a lake and they are stuck most of the time now, I washed with polmolive oxy plus as a last resort ( they are andy mac 608's so not that expensive ) and they work like that for a few hours, but I have to repeatedly do this every few hours now to keep them working....I just kneed a temporary deal until I can scrape up some money to replace them....ny'one got any ideas?

I presume your lake is filled with water? jk jk. Well, metal rusts when it comes into contact with water and air. So I can safely say that your bearings have rusted. Time to change. I seriously recommend RocknRons (http://www.skatetechnology.com/rocknronsbearings.htm) Don't worry about the ceramic choices or Stage 2 or whatever. Since you are just starting out, the Cruise Missile, Ballistech Rocket, and the Ballistech Missile is best.
The Ballistech Missile is the fastest among all skate bearings. The Rockets have a better seal but slightly, just slightly slower and the Cruise Missile is meant to e the 'economically' priced bearing.

thanks...would they likely carry those in a local skate shop? or only through internet? btw how does bearing size influence performance? and how does the number indicate? in 608' I know taht the axle witdth is 8mm but thats it...what does the rest mean?

Don't worry about that. All skateobard bearings should be the same size and should fit in any skateboard wheel.
Rockets are mostly sold online but if you look around you might find a shop around your area that carries Rockets. Theres a shop in Canada, of all places, that carries Rockets, so there might be one in your area that does.

Umm, so far I have only bought it online since I am half-way across the earth. But Ron has distributed to skate shops around US. You should email*rockinronf@sbcglobal.net* him and see. If your shop doesn't carry it, well Ron might persuade them to...
About the 608 thing, it is like a part numbering system. 600 means it is from the 600 series bearing and the 8 is well, 8mm, the bore size/hole for your axle to go though. But axles are not 'really' 8mm. They are mostly 5/16" aka undersized.

What my friend did was lube them up, then spin them super fast using some machine. It worked okay for him.

What I do is completely dismantle the bearing. pop off the caps, then remove the ball cage, then roll all the balls to one side, so u can unclip the centre ring. then wipe the shit outta the balls and the rings with tissues, making sure everything's clean, then put the cap back on the outter ring, so they hold the 7 balls when u put them back on the track. then pop the middle ring in, and.. the rest is history. Its good, coz theres no water involved.

How do you put the balls back in? The inner race doesn't fit.
