So if someone was to start out skate boarding..
And they had trouble with their balance, what are some ways they can improve their balance on their boards?
Practice does in fact, make you better at whatever it is that you're aiming for.
But what are some general ways you can get more comfortable with your skate balancing?
Are there any specific ways you should keep your shoulders, arms, and legs, etc.?

Make a balance board. While riding on the real skateboard, try to keep your weight centered in between the bolts.

but keep your front foot toward the back of the front bolts...i found this out the hard way.
i've never used a balance board, but it can't hurt.
otherwise, just get out, pad yourself up, prepare to wipe out a little, and familiarize yourself with your board. board time, even if you're just riding around your driveway, always helps. gotta get used to your board and how you're gonna react to your board

Put half of your board on your feet, with the graphic side up, and then jump up flipping your board and landing on your board.

Start with a stiff setup and slowly losin (sp?) it about a half turn every try per hour of riding. That is somewhat what i did i have a loosey goosey setup and i can can just stand on it without falling off.
Loosey Goosey-adjective- A term used to describe something that is looser than what is considered sane. In skateboarding, the trucks move on their own with the slightest breeze.

Theres a place on ur Skateboard, just behind the front trucks, where if you stand there, you can get good balance. Practice also helps; you get nowhere without it. Try learning Manuals also..
Balancing is a natural skill that comes as you get more used to the art of Skatebrding.
