California just passed a law that says that if you don't wear a helmit while skating, you get a $500 fine. I think this is a huge impact on skateboarding, because this makes so many skaters want to quit, seriously. Chris wanted to quit, and almost did, for awhile. California is pretty much the mecca for skating, and this impacts more than just this state. Other states use California as an example, and may follow what California has done. Even a few pros will be forced to wear helmits, like Bastien Salabanzi, who is only 15. Who else feels this was, and if not, how do you feel about it?

Yeh that does suck but if you really do love skating you will wear whatever even if you do look silly.

yes, you can. i dunno why, but it was in the law. it's like, if you sell weed on your property, it's still illegal, right? same thing.

Does it matter that much... at least your not gonna kill yourself no more, and you will get used to wearing one. I wish we had that law

i don't wear a helmet and i don't like to but i guess u can get used to it and flip boy is right ur not gonna hurt ur head as much but i'm glad we don't have the law. so it's kindof good and kindof bad

ben couldn't you just make it your 'own little rule'?? i think it's a good idea but should only be made in certain areas (sk8parks etc..)

Most of you (Ben) shouldn't have an opinion because you aren't here going through it. It sucks having to wear a helmet, even if your just riding to the store, or to a friends house, or school, or anywhere. If it was happening in your sate/country, you would not have the opinion that it's a good thing, because then you'd have to wear this visibility-reducing sweat machines.

i dispise wearing a helmet. it just gets all sweaty and in your way. and most people that just skate around usually dont fall on their heads. and that REAL crap about in your driveway suff, too.

that sucks. isn't that law for people under 18 or something? you're more likely to roll an ankle or hurt your wrist than bang your head. at least that's what it's like here... (no big stuff around and the skatepark's an hour away, and you have to wear a helmet there anyway.)

Yeah that is so true you are most likely to rool and ankel than banging your head... the first year I skated I did so many thing and I only banged my head once and it was because I slapped backwards and a wall was in the way I just banged it hard enought to be a pain of like 1 minute or. Yeah well It sucks that and like someone said before other states look up to california and its not going to be long before other states enforce what california just did... damn politics they all should die( well the ones that chose that law)

get over it, oh darn you have to wear a helmet when you skate, if you're skating to have fun it wont matter, it sounds like you guys skate to look cool if you're 'too cool' to wear a helmet. if that's all it takes for you to be able to skate, you should be more than willing to skate.

u might want that helmet sooner or later ne wayz... ya know, as u get better and start mastering handrails and ledges... try doing an unwaxed handrail... yea, really messed up my head for awhile... Got a REALLY bad headache and couldn't walk right for an hour...

Dude its winter now so if u think about it cops wont be assed to chase sum "punk kids" around a city so uv still got a few weeks of not wearin a helmet.
