Well, mostly it's the quality of the wood. Every time I've owned an Element, they've broken VERY quickly, felt all soggy and non-poppy, and I wasnt' feeling the shape, but they're doing this thing now like "Get whatever shape you want" so that sort of knocks that out. Mostly it's just preference, but in my experience, Element doesn't make as good quality board as a company like Darkstar, Alien Workshop, Toy Machine, Black Label, Habitat etc. But, if you're comfortable with an Element deck, and you like 'em, STICK WITH THEM! I would just try some other things and see if you like 'em, and if Element is still your preference, go with itttt. Good luck man, and keep skating and looking for that perfect set up. =)

darkstar is way worse than element, FYI.

Not from the ones I've skated, for me, Darkstar was like some good, some bad, but overall I really liked them. As for Element, all were bad. But, if you read in my previous post, I noted personal preference as a major factor, and to me, Darkstar was a good deck. Thanks though.

Edit: It all comes down to opinion, and your personal experience, so for me it could be good, for you, bad. Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one.

Shape doesn't really bother but damn! My friends Element had the weirdest looking shape I've ever seen. It's like a semi-circle with the top half cut off and the edges rounded off(and the board was new, never skated until a couple of minutes after I saw it). I can't believe Element isn't bothered by that shape.

eh, from what i understand, they used to be not THAT bad. but then they changed distributors; their new distros took a dive in quality (bad wood, bad QC, etc.) and that was that

it all started when some ass on here bashed on element, or some ass in general, not necessarily here.

sure, they have some wack shapes. one of the elements i skated had one of the worst shapes ever.

the other one was a really good deck, with a nice shape.

it was one of the decks that i skated until it had razor tail, and i still skated it.

so many people say "OMGZ I HATE ELEMENTZ" and they haven't even skated one.

and in my personal experience, they aren't half ass.

shoot me.

way to bandwagon jump.

ive been thinking about actually trying one.. its been about 4 years since i had one, and i hardly skated it so i dont really know how it was.

plus, weve got an 8" one here with one of their good shapes, so i might try it out.

ive never liked element and ive always said theyre lower quality, but ive also always put them in the mid range.. like.. dwindle is lowest, element is somewhere in the middle, and then youve got your habitats and reals and popwars and shit up at the top.

I had an element once. Its the one in my sig. It was actually pretty good, but everyone says they're shit, but I'd rather ride then than Dwindle Decks. Although Elements quality is dwindling amongst reviewers.
