Ya put some weight on your heels so the edge of the board can stop in the snow.

if u ride regular you can also just make a left turn and extend your right leg quickly and if you ride goofy make a right and extend your left leg

Ok, this is the best way to stop.
Its called the powerslide!
To do the powerslide you rotate frontside 90 degree with jumping just wind up and flick your board around 90 degrees, then your edge will dig into the snow and start to slow you down, then lean back until u come to a complete stop, then if ya want to 90 back to normal for some style! :D

When you want to stop, just start a turn with either edge. Keep your knees bent and your weight centered. Use a low to edge angle so you skid and hold the edge untill you are sliding sideways. From here just gradually increase the edge angle untill you come to a stop.

Ya....but I don't really think we can learn ppl how to do thing the good way if she/is a beginner...I think that if you're starting on the snowboard, you'll have to ask one off your friends that knows how to come with you and teach you. If you don't have any friends, ususally ski resorts have snowboard lessons.

Dude, don't have a friend teach you. Take a lesson. I'm a snowboard instructor and I spend half my teaching time trying to fix the wierd crap people learn from their friends.

Well I give lessons to my friends and never was a snowboarding instructor though I'm way better at boarding i have a way better technique than almost all the snow instructor I know or knew or even saw teaching.

Then maybe you should be an instructor.

Well I was thinking about that last year...and decided I didn't want to because I wouldn't have enough free time to board with my friends.

Dude, You get tons of free riding time. Plus a free season pass. Some paces will even give you a few free lift tickets for you to take your friends.

Ya well I also hate being obligated to go allways to the same mountain all winter long. Me and some friends are shooting some boarding videos around Quebec and we can't just do that in only 1 mountain. Plus, I don't wanna wake up early and give lessons every damn weekends. When I'll be in serious need of money (and when I'll get a car...probaly next season), I'll think bout it more seriously.
