I'm gonna order the $50 complete deck from blankdecks.com. I'm gonna get the canadian blank deck 7.75 wide, and i was wondering how big i should get the wheels, 52? 54? also, is there much of a difference between 98, 99, and 100 hardness?

First of all, i'd ditch the canadian blank and get a sturdy mold or a california blank. anyway, 52 is about an average size for wheels, and either one of those hardnesses would be fine.

I have heard nothing but bad things about Canadian blanks on this site, so I'd choose a California, Sturdy, or House Special (the deck I'm skating now). Also, if you're getting the $50 completes, you are going to get really shitty trucks, but if you are a complete beginner then that is fine, too.

I heard that the canadian blank was as good as the california blank, i guess not. Goat meal, your skating a house special, is that a good deck? I'm an on and off skater, and i dont grind that much, so i dont think the trucks will be that big of a deal.

Also, the complete comes with risers, does anyone use them?

about the risers, skate with them on. then skate with them off. most people its just a personal preference delio. and wheel size depends on what you plan on skating. most miniramp/bowl'rs have the bigger wheels. street tend to keep it under 54. hardness isnt much of an issue. :-29:

52mm is the average size, so that's a good size for you to start off on, and see if you like it or not. If you don't just change the size accordingly (If you think it's too big, get a smaller size next time, and vice versa). 99a is pretty average too. Really, I never notice any difference in hardness unless it's like 99a compared to 82a.
I don't ride risers but thats me personally because I like my board close to the ground.
