I used to skate when i was about 13-14, i could stay on a board but i was never able to do any tricks besides the occasional ollie while not moving...

Well i'm 16 now i now give everything my all and grasp things alot better wereas when i was younger i used to think i could do a trick by doing it the wrong way enough, lol.

The thing is, am i too old to start skating? what i mean by this is when people see a 13 year old skating pretty badly they just assume they're still learning, will people have expected me to have become a decent skater by my age? will i just look like a big oaf on a board :P?

Basically i'll look alot worse being a bad skater at my age now than if i was 13 right?

I could be totally wrong about this and but i'd like you to confirm if i'm right or not, if i am right i might just confine myself to skating on my back garden patio until i get good enough, to stop showing myself up :P.

P.S i don't want any greif

it's never to late to start skating man. and don't worry how you look. in two months or so you'll become used to the board and comfortable with riding it. so just go for it and have fun. skate with friends as much as you can. and if you see a hill, go bomb it. that's the thing about skating, you can do what you want. oh, and for ollies, learn them moving and not stationary.

Thanks for the advice, the only thing is non of my friends skate and the ones who did don't anymore, i'm just worried i'll look stupid, doing something i'm not very good at on my own with people watching.

To old for skating? nobody is. I have a friend who was 16 when we met. He couldn't do anything when we met. Now he can ollie and kickflip. anyone makes fun of you, beat them with the board and show him who is the boss.
Tony Hawk is almost 40 years old. He's probably the coolest dad ever.
So, yeah, you were wrong about the age thing. Besides, 16 yrears old is very young.

age has nothing to do with it. i see all ages of people learning how to skate at the skatepark every day.

Word of Advice: if you want to go to a skatepark without every one hating you. 1. learn how to ollie while moving before you go. and 2. avoid getting in peoples way.

In less thatn a month Ill be 17. I just started 3 weeks ago.
When the little kids make fun of me I just tell them "Fine Im gonna have to have to tell uncle Rodney not to demo here because its filled with little d-bags."
It gets better when they apologize.

They might be better at skating but your smarter than them... hopefully.

Well i know the basics of skateboarding already so hopefully it won't be too long before i'm ready to go to a skatepark.

Dude, like everyone else said, its never too late to start again. I'm turning 26 next month and I'm starting again after 10 years. I don't even recognize any of these board names. Back in my days it was all about planet earth boards and b52 trucks. Now I guess I gotta get a chocolate board with venture or red trucks.

Keep learning!
