Okay so im getting my first board in 2 days (yay!!!) And i was wondering, can i grind on a waxed curb before i even know how to ollie? Like sorta ride into it and just turn at the end? I ask this because from a lot of people the ollie is apparently really hard to get a hang of, and grinds are the most appealing trick to me =D

yes you can but if you are serious about skating you should try to learn and ollie its pretty important. but yes you can caveman on to a curb by putting the board on the curb and just running and jump on the board thats how i got the feel of grinding

I been Skating 2 years, and Ollies onto kerbs are the highest ones you'll need to Grind. Or just lift your front on, then your back on after. ollie's onto kerbs arent hard to get the hang of.. they're easy man, just learn them!

if you dont learn to ollie, your going to be that retarded kid everyone makes fun of because he just rides into a grind. if you dont learn to ollie into grinds, it will look rediculous and it really doesnt count if you dont ollie into it.

Start with ollies then it will be easyer to get into a grind then you will boardslide and/or 50-50

i feel you bro, when i started skating, grinds were the funnest thing to do in my opinion, but to do a grind u need a good ollie so learn ollies

If you can ollie into and out of grinds, it expands your options for sure. Besides grinding things that are low to the ground like curbs and stuff aren't as good as grinding a decent height ledge or box.

The ollie is the base of most of your tricks. So i recomend you learn that first. But you can learn shove'its first.

It is possible to grind without ollie-ing.

They are really different maneuvers though. You can do slappy grinds which are really fun and then you can ollie into grinds.

Still, it pays to learn the ollie.

Only do what you want to do, just have fun with skating.
