The way you described it there doesn't seem like anything wrong, you just need to pop and slide your foot up more, wi=hich comes with practise.

Slam you tail really hard to pop. When you slam the tail down your back leg should be strait. But if you just slam the tail down nothing will happen. You have to slam the tail but jump (With the back foot of course!). thats how you pop. When you pop the tail you should be sliding your foot up the board. As your sliding your foot up, you need to bring your back foot high up in the air. You should be in the air by now, at the top of your ollie. Now you don't have to explain what happens next. now land, bend your knees, roll away and be cool. Did that explain alot?

just wondering but how long did it take you to learn how to do a decent ollie (like a foot)

About a year. Winter was probably when my ollies were starting to get better. I constantly practased them over and over in my basement. Since winther is coming up soon:-11:, you should try that out. This might be your chance.

i would maybe try hanging your back foot off the tail a little more, sometimes that helps me a littile when i try to olllie real high things...but over all practice is the key
wakeboardinpwnz
09-30-2007, 03:08 AM
ty that helped me ollie like 1/2-1 inch higher and more consistantly
anyone else got a suggestion

Slide your front foot up and forward more, that helps the board 'stick' to your feet more (higher ollies, and possibly even tweaked ones).

alright ill try that when i get the chance but how come when i jump off the back tail i don't get the full height of my jump
cordell
09-30-2007, 03:12 PM
Are you bending down when you are about to ollie? Remember, when you jump, bring your knees up towards you chest. Just jump high.

It takes a lot of time, it's not like a couple of days of practise will get you to ollie as high as Danny Wrainwright. Patience.

then quit. if you are skating just so you can be good, then you are wasting your time, and ours.

I don't think that helped him. But i guess you are right. Skating isn't about being good and is nothing to get mad over. You skate because you love skateboarding. But if the only reason you skate is because you think skateboarding makes you cool, then you are skating for the wrong reason.
But...DON'T GIVE UP!!!

popping is a big part
slam down your tail and slide your front foot up to the nose of the board.....make sure you jump high and bring your knees into your stomach almost as if your trying to touch your chin on your knees....
as for kickflips....they're supposedly the most frustrating trick in skateboarding.....ive only just landed my first kickflip and ive been properly skating 6 months and i only landed my first kickflip a couple of weeks ago....
practice, practice, practice!
wakeboardinpwnz
10-01-2007, 07:40 PM

When I started to ollie again a few weeks ago, I was only go up a few inches. For me, I don't bend my back knee far up enough because the higher my back leg went, the more scarier it seemed to land. This caused the board to stop when it hit my back foot, preventing the height of my ollie from reaching its potential. Solution is to start to ollie small obstacles like decks or curbs, it kind of forces you to lift your legs higher to clear the obstacle.
I was in your place a few weeks ago and I only have a chance to skate on weekends, so if you're skating everyday and you can already get in the air a little, practicing over obstacles should show some improvement. First a curb, then another skate deck if you have one... stack some pieces of wood, I dunno...
Anyways, hope that helps and good luck.

All you have to do is bend down, pop hard and bring your feet up as high as possible. Slide your foot to get the most height. Also remember to practice this while moving.
