Hey there. I'm new. I used to skate, but not that well and I started up again last month. I'm only able to skate on weekends, but when I do I try to progress as much as I can. The first weekend, I was able to do some very small, awkward moving ollies. At that point, I was still getting adjusted to a new board.

Now, here's a quick, 15 second compilation of my ollies from this past weekend. I've been hard pressed to find ollie-able objects, but I found some rocks nearby, which were used by my apartment complex for decoration, and started to ollie them.

First ollie was over the first rock I found, which was pretty tiny. Second ollie was over a considerably larger rock I found. Third ollie, which has bad technique, was over both these rocks stacked (maybe 1-1.5 decks high?).

Here it is:

I don't know why the audio stopped working after I uploaded it.. oh well. Anyways, I hope the weather picks up over this weekend because I want to try 180's and if I'm daring enough... some flips? Which is easier to start with? Kickflip or heelflip?

Btw, any comments/advice/suggestions on my ollies would be greatly appreciated. Do I just need to tuck to go higher and stay longer in the air?

Sorry for the long post. I tend to do that. Thanks.

I took the link down because nobody replied, so I figured it was too embarrassing to comment on =(

I just moved to Flushing, Queens, but I'm attending college upstate. I've been skating in the flat lot outside my apartment but the winter is creeping near and I'm not sure how much longer I'll be able to go out and skate *sigh*

Upstate, eh? Whereabouts? Sound like you figured out ollies basically, just get used to leveling out. 180's are all in the shoulders and don't dip your head down, you'll lose the board. And for flips, I learned heels first, just found it easier. Basically just flickoff the nose with your heel, don't kickdown like commonsense would tell you. And flip trick will be off the nose, basically.
