I'd say you're safe with 3 decks on most rails.

If you have enough spped you shouldn't have to ollie that high anyway.

You can get on the rail like halfway down and you just need a normal ollie.

3 decks!?!? Wow, I think I'm overrating handrails. I can Ollie 3 fine, but I've never attempted to do a Handrail, and I don't think I'll be doing it any time soon!

Actually, when you ollie up to a handrail, the hieght should come naturally.

Learn boardslides down park rails, they're usually shorter and less steep. That would give you the feel of a handrail with less risk of nutting yourself.

You just gotta try it, once you commit, you'll realize how easy it is. Handrails are not really to hard, depending on what you're doing on 'em. Basic stuff doesn't take to long, it's mostly just commitment.

Kinda I use the length to help me with handrails, like, I Ollie long, so I dont have to Ollie as high, because.. well, the handrail goes down, so I just Ollie straight and a bit high, so I can get onto it.

I'm trying my first hardrail at my skatepark next time I go. I rolled up to it and it seemed pretty small, I just need to commit.

When doing them don't go for the very beggining much easier to get into further down the rail. And also speed makes it a lot easier, go fast.

Yeah, I've heard that's the right way to learn. So like if you fall or something, you'll clear over the rail basically, away from harm lol.
