Skater vs. Small Annoying Rocks!

I saw this on anotehr forum and thought it would be fun to hear everyones pebble stories!

Is it just me or when your trying to impress someone pebbles and impressing go hand in hand?

Yeah everytime im trying to show off there is always a pebble or a crack that causes me too mess up, like when a car passes by and i crash cause i wasnt paying attention the the sidewalk.

most i landed was a 15 (which was all luck). i was trying the 14 though because it's so perfect. i tried a 19 (not a typo) once but that wasn't pretty either. btw, my mom took my camera and laptop, i should get it back for christmas though.

i was skating some park in PA, and i got hungry, so i decided to bomb a hill with like a zillion bends to get to ****ing arby's and halfway down i nailed a rock and flew like 3 feet face first. i have that rock to this day.

today was kinda wierd, but doesn't really have much to do with rocks. i was at an intersection on my way to the local pharmacy to get picked up by my buddy, and i like took a running start to get to the other side, cars on all sides of the intersection, and like as i dropped my board to jump on, i like dropped it on the top of my foot so like my board like shot forward and all i could do was run forward in the direction and jump on it, across the street, thinking of how stupid i looked, without looking at anyone.

i hate stuff like that. like, if i'm just skating from point a to point b and i hit like a rock on a sidewalk where there's like a bunch of cars and stuff i just feel like a total idiot.

"hey guys, wait up for me"

so naturally they all turn towards me, and i hopped on my board, and pushed, and ran into a stop-rock, i flew straight forward, but i caught myself.

they still laugh at me for it

Earlier I was skating flat and I didn't even finish one push when I hit a pebble and fell. I hate it when that happens.

I found this 1980's wiide deck with huge wheels and thought "Jeah! I can bomb hills fearlessly now!" so went down this hill near my house, and was bombing it, then I saw a patch of rocks and went straight through it. Then my truck turned real fast and I got thrown forwards. I got lucky and only scraped my knee off (I was wearings shorts), and although I now have this huge scar, I couldnt ever feel a thing from the initial injury to date. Maybe I've got no nerves in my knees?

Aaahhhh pebbles. :). If I had a penny for everytime I hit a pebble I'd have exactly £3.42. Right some stories....this one time I waqs riding down this long ass ledge, runs about ten - twenty meters and quite steep, to see my girlfriend who was at the bottom, rodneymullen123 you should know which one, the one by the jersey barrier. Anyway I saw her shouting me and I popped up onto it and as I was about half way down I hit a patch of soil, grass, leaves and stones etc...I immediatley stopped and rolled down the remainder of the bank. Yeah, I think my girlfriend was impressed :)

Another time (not related to stones) I was in Devon sometime in July/August, I forget, and I was coming back from a skatepark, which is a pile of shit as it is council built, and I was skating on the road. I saw a car coming towards me so I tried 180 up onto a curb, not good when you have a bottle of Coke in one had and a bag on your back. And I landed in a switch manual and just shot out. Dead embarrasing :mad:

after a day at the skatepark after school, i had to go back inside school to get my backpack and go home. So as i entered the school driveway, i noticed some cute preppy girls chilling. So i thought to myself why not show off some steez skating. i come up, ollie the sewer, powerslide a painted marker on the ground, and i was planning on ollieing up the curb, but my back wheels got stuck in a 2 inch wide crack and i just piled over and flew forward 4 feet. i tried to play it off and pretend my trucks were broken and waved to them, yeahhhh..... not much steez there...

I gave myself a concussion and a hairline fracture due to a little pebble. Skating a bowl following a line my mate was doing on BMX hit a stone about 2 foot from the vert section, stumbled forward and as anyone who has ran into a quarter will know it becomes essentially a wall, hit it and woke up 20 minutes later bleeding and in ****ing agony.

Oh I have a good one:
On Saturday, Billy and I were filming in a drainage ditch and he was just doing a line and I hit some PVC pipe thing i dont even know what it is but bottom line i fell and the footage is up somewhere i dont know if he posted it or not.

Another one a couple weeks ago i was bombing a hill at night pretty big hill go really fast that kinda stuff any way my township sucks at putting in sewer lids and they have little cracks at the end and i didnt see the sewer lid and i just fell right off didnt get hurt though that one sucked cuz we were having a race and i was winning

Haha, these pebble stories are funny, but it is honestly hilarious to see them unfold before your eyes.

One time my friend and I were both skating around a local plaza. Just cruising, little tricks here and there, and we stopped to get a drink at this place that had a whole bunch of kids in there. Once we got done drinking they asked us to show us some of our moves.

I STRONGLY dislike showing off so I let my buddy handle it. He was doing a good job with all his crazy Bigspin stuff. Sex Change Biggie, 540 Big, etc. They asked to see a Kickflip and he pops a really sketchy one and they were pretty damn impressed.

Kickflips being my specialty, I'm thinking "Damn, if that got them impressed imagine their faces when I do one!" So I laugh out loud, and very steezy like try do a running start, hit a rock, fall flat on my nose.

That was SO embaressing, and that's what I get for trying to show off.

It's like another layer of rock snow. always sweeping and your wrist hurts.

me and my friend were skating home from mcdonalds so i had a drink in my hands. I saw ahead of me was a big crack so i did a little ollie over it but when i landed whatdaya know, a rock popped out of no where. ya so i fling forward and my drink goes flying. it landed right on the ground in front of some dude and splashed on his shoes. so at this point i was shaking, because of the fall that happened so fast, and that i just spilled my drink on some dudes shoes. and spring up and run up to him saying sorry and he said "no biggy, as long as you show me a couple tricks" and i did. and i did good.

my other stories was me passing through a school on the way to my friends house. i was just putting together an easy line of kickflips and ollies up and down curbs and what not when i spotted an easy three stair, with some cute chicks chillin at the bottom. so i got tons of speed thinking yes this is gonna be easy until. mr rock showed up. SCRREEEEEEEETTTTTTTT. i went flying clearly over the stairs. i hit the ground and roll right infront of the girls and i started wishing i was invisible. but then it turned good. they were all over me asking if i was ok and stuff like that. it was great

I did summit with a McDonalds drink :| they're cursed I say. I just got in from school and mum had got some Maccy D's in. I had mine and took my large strawbery milkshake out wiht me to take to the plaza. My road has speed bumps at the end but long ones. Like a square with slopes on all sides. Big too. bout as long as two lorries side by side. And I rode up one side and popped offthe other when I landed I hit a metal cube thingy. I spilt milkshake all over myself LOL! Good times :)

yeh i know what you mean....that wouldv'e been painful....i tryed olliing a ledge there and i went up the ramp and hit a rock....painful head for half an hour.

no one has been helped by stop rocks? twice ive almost slipped out of a trick but a stop rock was there so my wheels couldn't move that way and i landed them both.

I had my camera in my camera bag and we were skating to a different spot. Well im in the sidewalk on neutral ground(median) and i drop down the curb and my back wheels stick into some sand.....well my camera bag in my right hand goes flying out of my hand across the entire TWO lane street.....bounces in water...then hits a telephone pole, then goes back into the puddle.....talk about bad luck. Also the cars were stopped at the stoplight and were laughing at me...my knuckles got all fuucked up , but luckily my camera wasnt messed up at all.

My road has speed bumps

That reminds me. Well, here where I live, we have monsoons (huge flash floods, thunderstorms, high winds, etc), so instead of a speed bump, we have huge dips (the size of a speed bump, but a dip) to drain out the flood water. So, I decided that I would ollie over it, simple as pie. No, I ended up not making it all the way, and my back trucks hit the very end of the dip, sending me flying about 4 feet.

Sorry it wasn't related to rocks and cracks, although I have had a few obvious ones, like a month ago, I was just going really fast, and a little pebble got in the way, making a screech when my trucks hit it, and I went flying, scraping my knee as a car goes by.

Half of these stories have to do with cute girls. How typical, I had a few of those stories myself =(

One was i was skating over to my friends house to hang out and play some arisoft and i called and said i was on my way any way i was skatin down the street and he had a buncha people over and they all were standing out side with guns. well i was pushin really fast and somehow kicked my board out from under me. long story short i got lit up by airsoft guns.

another on was my friend was goin to ollie this waist high loading dock in town and as hes rolling up to it he hits a rock and just slides and almost falls face first off the dock it was really funny.

yeah. i was doing a nollie big heel and i was about to slip backwards but the rock kept me from doing so. so i rolled the other way (the way i was suppose to roll away).

this may sound a little stupid but, haha, since i am a TOTAL beginner and all, just about every time i go skate, i hit a rock and usually i dont fall but i step on the nose or tail of my board and it flies up to hit me in the knee or shin and it hurts so bad
