Do these kids annoy anyone else? They hang around shops and dont do anything. I admit, there better then me at skateboarding (i can barely even ollie) but still i just want to smack them. Lately ive been thinking about the future of skateboarding, and it looks pretty grim. These kids are the future of skateboarding and all they care about is the sponsors, the bling, the clothes.
I may be new, but hell, even i know skateboarding is not about making a living or getting sponsors.
isnt it supposed to be about the skating?
or should i jsut shut up and go skate?

Hmmm.....maybe you're a bit jeolous of these people?
nah they piss me off too. I hate how some people try to turn skateboarding into a fashion statment.....especially those people at West 49. Some West 49 shops stoped selling boards altogether, but they still call themselves a skateshop for some reason.

there's absolutely nothing wrong with hanging around your local shop. We always go there when we get in trouble, need a drink, anything like that. They're really cool.
but kids who skate for sponsors are annoying. Haha, I started a sponsor me video, and decided it was stupid, and stopped making it. It'll be a while 'til my next one.

What's wrong with just hanging around shops? I love to play a game of skate with a couple of guys there. We just play it on the sidewalk in front of the shop, not annoying anyone. But I agree with you on the sponsor thing.

well i have nothing against hanging around shops, thats not really what i meant. but they hassle people and act like they own the place. They insulted my friend just because he rollerbladed (hes cool though) which is pretty gay. considering my freind was about twice his size

Yeah, we just hang out at the shop, we don't annoy anyone. But if there acting like jerks then I see what you mean.

at least you guys have a shop to hangout at.
Skateboarding is about skateboarding. Not about clothes and being cooler than everyone else. Those people just skate because they think it makes them look cool.

hahaha. Vans, I'm totally the first guy in your little rant. ahh.
And it sounds like your talking about just the dicks that hang out at shops and give you shit if you buy something they dont care for, or if your skating with them or near them and don't land your trick, they'll heckle you.

I remember this group of hero's who look like this http://www.kr3wapparel.com/i/adarkive/2007/kr3w_team_2007.jpg
who came to our skatepark one day. One dude had his hat backwards and has a "theres shit under my nose so dont f with me" expression. They were all shit, then I started skating the flarbar, and pulled a kicky front lip. Then he looked more normal. Then one of the guys that looks like one in that pic (third from the end) had a stack. everyone was smiling, coz he was a badass, and when he fell, his big ego made a huge bang against the ground. I Skate to have fun; fcuck what everyone else thinks. And those badasses? everyone looves seeing them slam.

Rollerblading is gay. I admit a lot of kids are jerks but maybe you're also a little too oversensitive.

West 49 and all corporate "skateshop" chains are killing skateboarding as we know it, but hey as long as they make a quick buck. If skaters weren't so damn fashionable those places would be out of business.

I skate street and nothing else really.
I don't skate Transition because I suck at it, and I don't want to fall down 8 ft., so whatever.
I pretty much mind my own at the local shops, except when someone asksme about something, I try to make it sound like I know a crapload about skating.

"What's your favorite video dude?"
"Aww man, theres alot. I especially love the opening Tre flip in Mike Mo Capaldi's video part for Forecast. But Ryan Gallant's part on First Love was amazing too!"

What do you mean skaters? Half of the people who buy their clothes at West 49 don't even skate, or even have touched a skateboarding their entire life.

I'm talking about actual skaters, the people the shoppers pose as. Skaters as in the people at ramprage. If we weren't so damn fashionable they would be out of business.

Dang that tre flip was clean as! He's only 15?! I never knew that!
EDIT:
Holy jesus I just watched Ryan Gallants part. =| Is all of that real? I actually don't know if he is reg or goof. I think he's goof from the hardflip 180 over that hip thingy, turning it into a f/s bigflip thingy, but I'm still not sure. That guy is insane man!

I think I get what you're talking about. If the 'punk skater style' wasn't so 'in style', skater clothing stores would be out of business.

We call people that land tricks and then bum them "ball bags" like, not being stoked about it thats ok, but showing off...going on and on about how great it was and how noone else can do it...etc..
someone came up to us and went "aaah guys I just 50-50 the five stair rail" and he wouldn't shut up about it saying how easy it was and how he aint seen anyone else do it and how everyone else was shit now cuz he could do that. Then I just said "yeah ballbag" ad he wandered off and started saying it to other people.
Some random info there =]
