How do I find out the chipset my motherboard uses? When I bought the computer, I was oblivious to how computers work, but now I would like to know. Any suggestions?

In Windows 2000/XP, try the following:

Right click on My Computer and select properties. Next click on the "hardware" tab and then click on the "device manager" tab. Once inside the device manager click on "system devices" to expand the tree. The type of chipset will be listed within this list. Such chipsets may include, but are not limited to: VIA, ALi Magik, SiS, Intel etc.

For Windows9x/Me try the following:

Right click on My Computer and select properties. Next click on the "device manager" tab. Once inside the device manager click on "system devices" to expand the tree. The type of chipset will be listed within this list. Such chipsets may include, but are not limited to: VIA, ALi Magik, SiS, Intel etc.

...Maybe what your talking about....?

Hihi =D

Download Lavalys' program called Everest. That'll tell you everything about your computer.
