yeah dude learn fs 180s then bs halfcabs then some nollie stuff like shuvs and 180s and if youre like me youll learn nollie bs bigspins before kickflips and then learn fs 180s after kickflips and start gettin tricks til you build up a decent bag of tricks then while you are working on tricks learn basic tricks down gaps stairs and ledges also youre gonna want to learn 50-50s and other grinds and slides and ollies to manuals and after that you can just pretty much do you r own thing when you get to a decent skill level youll know what tricks to learn next any way just go on and have fun with it

wow that was a long post but yeah youre welcome

cordell
01-02-2008, 04:13 AM
You should practice on funboxes, dropping in and doing kickturns on quaterpipes, etc. You know, stuff like that. Practice ollies off of ledges and stairs. Then you can be cool like me!:-6: Oh, but make sure you can ollie off the curb before you hit the stairs. (and ollie on to the curb if you cant)

01-02-2008, 08:29 PM
psht dude
its not that far away

From what I know you only live like 15 min away from Modern
and seriously, who said you had to be good enough?
There's little kids trying to skate all the time, and they suck, and if they can skate there, so can you.

Who said you have to be a certain amount of "good" to be able to go?

There's no such thing.
Just go man, trust me, its kick ass, even ask Noxi, he's been there to.

wait, skaterrdude is a 616 local too?

dude, i LEARNED park skating at modern...there's no such thing as "i'm not good enough"l. most of the guys there are quite helpful, if you're strugglign with something. hell, i had a guy with rollerblades coaching me on dropping in...oddly enough, he was a lot better than most of the skateboarders. you might see me there, i'll be all padded up with a bright red helmet

edit:
on (i can't remember if it's) tuesday or thursday, they have skateboard day, where from 6pm to 9pm it's $7...otherwise, its' $14 for 3 hours of park time

cordell

i dont skate park anyway...I dont have any places where i can practice on stairs either. My city sucks, i have one skatepark and 0 skateshops.
but, skaterrdude, you should get a rail or ramp and put it in your backyard or garage to practice on.

Ah Prarie is kinda weak I guess
nothing like Modern of course
it can be cool, but if your used to skating sweet parks or big parks
Prarie is sucky

But if you skate anywhere and anything is good to you just as long as you skate
then Prarie is ok

what tricks could u do at age 12? and how long did u skate?

Sk8 Shorty's
01-03-2008, 05:05 PM
hmm from what I remember not many
I started trying to skate around 5 but it probably isn't what you would call skating, it was just riding around on one of those crappy boards from Meijer or Wal-Mart.
I didn't actually try and do tricks till i was 12, and when I was 12 the only tricks I can remember doing was just a shove it, and a kickflip but that was right before I turned 13, then I kinda gave up, but then when i was 14 again I started trying alot harder and I just skated for fun.

A kickflip plus a 180 shove is called a varial kickflip. A heelflip and a 180 shove is called a varial heelflip. A kickflip plus a 360 shove it is a tre flip.

Dude, I'm turning 12 tommorow too. And right now, I can pop shove it, backside 180, frontside 180, kickflip, half cab, full cab (No Pivot), nollie shove it, fakie bigspin, BS bigspin, BS 360 (kind of go 320, then revert the rest of the way) And all the basic grinds ( Like 50-50, 5-0, boardslide) Oh yeah, and my ollies are pretty good, maybe decent to you guys. Id say about 18 inches. I can easily clear 2 decks, but 3 decks I always clip them with my back truck. So I guess thats around 16-18 inches.

True, but I can land my full cabs better than my kickflips. My kickflips may be high, but very sketchy. I barely ever get them on bolts.

Skizzate I dont turn 17 until may. I remember it was the 4th of july when I met my friend dalton and we decided we were gonna skateboard alot more. That was when I had just turned 15 then about. So ill be 17 and it will be 2 years. Maybe when Im 19 ill be good.
O yeah when I was telve I could ollie up curbs, I remeber that as being the thing to do. My older bro was like 13 or 14 and he was kickflipping varial flipping and all kinds of shit. He always told me when I asked him to teach me somethign that he learned it on his own and I should to. Thanks for the lesson.
