You will need to be able to get the videos onto your computer. Depending on the camera and recording format you are using (VHSC, miniDV, Digital8) there will be different ways to "capture the video" to your computer. The three possible methods are:
1. USB Capture Card
2. Firewire (IEEE 1394)
3. USB 2.0
Once you get the video onto your computer... you can choose from a wide variety of editing programs to edit with. Seeing as you are new to this, I would suggest using something like:
1. Windows Movie Maker (Comes with Windows XP)
2. Pinnicle Studio 7 or 8
3. MGI VideoWave 5
Those should get you on your way to edititing your video.

Well you could... but it would help to know what kind of camera (model) and the computer you are using to record this stuff...

Ya. get ur stuff at a computer store, and if ur confused on getting either Digital firewire or analog, just get analog, cuz if ur Camcorder
doesnt have the firewire plugs, then.... waste of money. As u get analog u can hook up ur camcorder to the computer using the RCA jacks (red yellow and white)
