Virus protection

I have this pop up virus that completly burns out all my computer configurations and allows pop ups through my pop up blocker and it installs shit behind my back. I have no clue where it came from because i havn't downloaded anything. But i need any "good" and "reliable" and "FREE" (I'm poor) virus protection. Any program or something that wont screw my computer up even more would be nice.

Is there any suggestions??!?! O_o

Go to AVG website and you can download it. It's not the best but it gets the job done and it's free.

Secondly, get AVG. Go to Download.com; it should do the trick.
Otherwise, format it.

I found a reliable start up software that formats in DOS but i dont feel like wiping my drive. I was innocent!!!!! I looked in my local drivers c: but i dont see format. Can someone give me an exact directory??? I have windows xp. Plus i don't want to lose anything so all i want to do is get rid of the virus. Simple

Reboot with that in, boot from CD, format, reinstall windows. No more virus.

Thnx but i just got rid of it with the system restore lol found it finally but ill use this if i ever get another virus.

fcuck anti-viruses; if viruses dont get on your computer in the first place, you shouldnt need to get rid of them. download mozilla firefox. and learn not to download anything you dont need.

AVG free is good though. I havent run any anti-virus stuff for over a year, and my computers fine coz I dont download anything.

You can get virus from pop-ups. I was browsing Skateperception and an ad poped up that install a bunch of shit on my computer. You arn't always safe.

Ye mcwattersm that same thing happened i was playing a game and a pop up was installing shit. I think when i was hitting buttons for my game i clicked a hotkey for (yes) or something then it installed avsystem care then it burned all my computer configurations and i couldnt enable pop up blocker again.
