hey, here in holland we've had this huge revival of the whole natalee holloway thing(the girl that dissapeared in 2005). Seeing as how she was an american I'm guessing the us has covered the case pretty thoroughly. Reason it's so big over here is that the main suspect is a dutch dude.
Yesterday there was this program over here that had an interview with the suspect and everything (7 million viewers! that's a lot for a country that only has 16 million people) I feel like I'm the only one at school that didn't watch it cause everybody at school was going on about it today and I had no idea what they were talking about. Anyway, first off, is this getting al big again in america too? Cause I heard that they were gonna broadcast yesterday's show in the US too.
And second of all...what do you guys think, waste of time or not? the girl's been gone for over 2 years, she probably never will be found and that asshole suspect(they can't prove he did it, but he's enjoying the attention which is just generally assholish) will most likely walk cause they can't prove shit.
Do any of you really believe you can still find hope in these kind of things cause i'm getting the feeling that these missing person things are just turning into ways of getting some media shit going on....not to be a dick, i really do feel sorry for the holloway family but really....it's getting turned in to such a big drama that I get the feeling that the actual investigation is turning into an afterthought.

Just wondering what the RR community thought about this

there was something on the news about 2 months ago i saw, where the dutch authorities dropped the case because they couldn't provide any evidence for murder, or anything for that matter

i have never heard of her, which is saying something cause i'm always up to date on all the news. but i hate it when the media does things like this. hell, i hate the media in general but i won't get into that cause i probably get too into it and get banned.

i believe she was a girl in a high school senior trip to some island in the Caribbean, she disappeared without a trace. i watched a show where the got phsycics to go the island and try to contact her spirit and see what really happened. it was pretty entertaining i'm not sure what to make of it though

not trying to be insensitive or anything, but can someone explain why this story is such a big deal. i mean compared to the other thousands of people that disappear every year, why has this one gotten so much attention

Remember that other chick that went missing before and they found her 7 months later then made that straight to TV movie that came out like A WEEK after she was found. Now THAT was ****ed.

EDIT: Anyone remember her name?

missing white woman syndrome. she had blond hair, she was from mississippi, was just out of high school, and disappeared over-seas. not that i don't think it's a shame that she's gone, it's really sad, but the media has once again shown why it's messing this country up more than anything else. there are very few journalists that i actually respect nowadays, and i hate paparazzi with a passion, not because of the few ones that were there for the princess diana thing, but because all paparazzi share that "forget about the subject and shoot the picture" mentality.

oh yeah, this too.

^^ That's why everybody's talking about it now, that was the new development that brought it all back into the spotlight.
