hm... I have the same problems to when using my bros camera and setting it to .avi and trying to play it in vegas or wmp, so I usually set it to .asf and it works.
umm there is a way you can convert it that I know of, I don't know what program, but I'll look around for you.

I guess your codecs for running avi. files is ****ed. Just try and get some new ones. Theres loads of programs out there to convert the format to something like .mov, .wmv or even .flv try just searchin google for it.

Download SUPER (search it on google, I think the site is eright.com or something like that). For a free vdeo converter, it's pretty decent. It covers pretty much all of the major codecs out there, and is pretty easy to use.

Download Divx.
Is that a video convertor or are you talking about the video codec?

.avi is the codec for Divx, as stated above, just download that then you will be all good. I would advise against codec packs because you will have a lot of useless codecs that could mess up other video/music playing programs

I would download Divx it plays .audiovideo files great.
If you have a Mac, Quicktime plays them fine. Hailtothethief also said
