Whats the deal with Nike SB? Are they like, better than other shoes? Kids and other people spend like $100+ on Nikes in crazy ass colors. Its ridiculous to me. Practically all of my friends that skate are obsessed with Nikes. WTF is going on? Why are people so crazy about their "new nikes"?

it's just hype.
sorry but i'm all about it. they skate really good, and that's about it.
i love their team.
but mainly it's about having that new pair of dunks that everyone wants.
it's just all hype dude

yeah, they do have great board feel, don't last long but they skate pretty amazing, and most of them look pretty nice too
but like ya'll said it's all hype
after a few years they will just blend back in with all the other companies and just be like a normal skate shoe company

Unfortunately, Nike does have excellent board feel.
Ipath > Nike's in my book though.

Ipaths are terrible now. They haven't had a decent shoe since the mesas or the 1985s. Reed's are about the only good shoe they still produce.
Nike's are the shit, SB or not. I've actually got 4 err 5 pairs of nikes, almost 6 because my friend is going to throw me a pair of tres, at the moment.. They just skate good. I skated my SB harbors the other day for a few minutes and they are ****ing amazing. Blazers are actually pretty sick too. Dunks are amazing but some of the other SB that are out are just ****ing where it's at. I have too many pairs of shoes right now.

I my opinion I think Nike makes the best shoes

I never had a pair of SB's, but I had some canvas Vandals mids and they skated really good. I put a little shoe goo on the toes before I skated them and the toes never ripped open.

I never skated Nike's before. I tried some on at a skateshop once. And they were pretty damn comfortable. But they were 90 dollars. And my mom wont buy me any shoes over 65. And i want to get some BAD.

Me being a man of many shoes, owns a pair of those. I don't give a shit if owning those and nikes contradict eachother, sick ass shoes either way. They don't skate like nikes though. They aren't even remotely the same quality either. Stiching is all ****ed, cheap materials, etc. Good insoles though and are sick to wear.

I love nikes. Skate good, feel good, and look good. All ive skated for my past couple pairs of shoes and will keep skating them.

i used to be concerned as being a prep or a jock if i wore nikes. I still prefer not to but if i find a cheap pair that i like, sure sure. i have p-rod 2's at the moment, pretttty good other than the shitty grip, protects the ankles way better than most and were only 35 gs.

I figure that when I get a job this summer and I'm set with a couple pay checks and all that and buy everything else I want I'll go to the skate shop and hook myself up with some SB's simply becase I don't have enough money to keep buying Nike skate shoes most of them at the shop by me that sells them are expensive. I did have a pair of Nike 6.0s back when I just started skating so I couldn't tell you exactly how they skated. But til then, and still after then, Lakai is where it's at.

I've been skating my nikes for a couple of months now. They're brilliant. Comfy and feel great. They ripped quickish but didn't go down too far and still the best shoe I've skated.
My friend reecently went into the skateshop when I was putting together my new board and the owner came up to him, we're pretty chill with him, and asked him what size he was. '10' he says. The owner brings out this Nike SB box and says 'Have these SBs mate, they're a little worn but nothing bad.' They were just a tiny bit worn and not ripped. Friend was stoked and it only took him a day to realise that they're the best shoes he's skated.
I love Nike SBs. Team's great. Shoes are great.

Id rather support skater owned companies, just a personal thing.
I do love their team though despite how annoying the video was.

i actually work for a nike sb dealer, so i see this first hand.
nike doesnt let you make orders, they just send you stuff. sometimes we get the rare stuff, and peope call from all around the country for them, seriously. its all hype.. theyre not special materials or anything. the only ones ive skated are dunks and i hate how they skate. im not into them for skating at all. dunks are comfortable though which is why i have a pair, just to wear. blazers are sick but theyre uncomfortable for me.
theyre no better than anything else, period.

haha, you have no idea. skaters dont own skateboarding at all. you think your "screw big non-skate companies!" companies are owned by skaters? no, not really. nike probably owns most of them, really. and, lets say.. vans? owned by the same company that owns jansport backpacks.
hell, burton just bought dna dist (habitat and alien workshop), and burton is owned by nike.
nothing is owned by who you think.

i forgot to mention the video. it was horrible. the skating alone was decent, but the skits were absolutely worthless and horrible and just annoying. it was just a completely shitty video.
lewis marnell was super sick though. i just wasnt feeling the whole thing. even shimizu.. hes been one of my favorite skaters since about 2000, but it was a let down.

i love vans too. TNT2s are some of the sickest shoes ive ever skated. those, rowley classics, and halfcabs are my favorite for sure.
and about who owns what... who cares if something isnt owned by skaters? that doesnt mean its bad. nothing IS only owned by skaters anyway, so it doesnt matter to begin with. nike isnt bad because they didnt start as a skate company.. vans isnt bad because theyre owned by the same people as jansport.. nothing is bad or worse because of something like that. all they do is own it.

I couldnt care at all who owns what or who founded what. If i like the feel and they skate good and look good, why not skate them? I think yall look at the little details way to much. Just skate what you want.
