Lying about skatin

I see it all the time. It annoys the hell out of me ! People ask "how long have you been skating?" and people will lie about how long just to make sure it sounds like their doing alright. Come on kids! You don't need to lie, skateboarding is about having fun and skatin with your friends. Not about who can land what and when and how long they have been skating! It really bugs me and probably a lot of other older skaters.

I just want to hear others opinions regarding this.:eek:

i dont give a shit about what other people say they can or actually can/cannot do. thats all on them and it really shouldnt get to you. skateboarding is a creative individual sport. no need to worry about others and stress shit.

My buddy has been skating for 6 years, and I for way less than that. We are about the same in skill.

Whenever someone asks him how long he's been skating, he always says 1 year - 1 1/2 years to make himself look SO much better. I never say anything, but it is really annoying actually.

I respect the fellas who tell it like it is.

I dunno. I ask cause - USUALLY, not always - the longer they've been skating, the cleaner / better their tricks look. But there's always those 1 out of 10 guys that just rip sick tricks and it's their third time skating ever, or something.

I love how every thread becomes a Sheckler hate thread. Just ignore him if you don't like him. I personally think he kills it skating but I watched his show once and couldn't stand it.

Now on topic of the thread; usually when some one asks me how long I've been skating I'll just be straight up and say "Almost two years" and that's that it does kinda annoy me when people lie about that though I can see what you're gettin at.

BUT back on topic. It don't bother me much when people lie about how long they been skating, I spent an entire year when a guy I knew that had been skating for like 5 years always said 1 year so I got used to it. BUT what really ticks me off is when (like in the video) people actually go like, "I did this yesterday man!" and they reaaallly actually mean it! ARGH! (Yes I know the video is a joke... I laughed)

i lie about skateboarding. apart from wearing tight-ass indy pants, a skintight element shirt, snagging peoples' used boards at parks (so i can look hardcore, ya know?), and standing in the middle of a mini ramp critiquing everybody (you get a better vantage point from which to critique), i also say that i was pretty much born on a skateboard. even though, i've never actually set foot on one in my life. i tried once and fell on my butt.
