im stuck in a bad situation here. i wanna shoot some video of me and my friends but all i got is a camcorder that used the small VHS tapes. im totally broke and my parents dont have $300 for me to "borrow" to buy a digital camera. I know they have capture cards but you have to put them inside the computer. id do that but i use my laptop cuz its faster than the piece of shit desktop computer i have. is there any way that is cheaper than like $100 to get my footage onto my laptop for editing?

ermmm, well, search for a USB Capture Device (i use one belkin) its worth around £70 (stil under 100$) and download virtualdub to capture your stuff.
You get videowave 3 and photosuite for free with it too

"Capture, edit and produce videos on your computer at resolutions up to 352 x 288 and 30 frames per second. " - thats what it says on their site. and i wasnt too sure about my web cam.

TV shows are 23 fps, so 30 would be really good

Depends where you live.... if you live in the states... which it says you do, they are actually done in NTSC format of 29.97 fps. In Europe, its PAL encoding of 25 fps. I don't remember what SECAM is.....

Apologies on doubting you... I went back and checked that they do shoot 30 fps. Thats rediculous, the quality would suck so much and you would need it to be sooo bright its rediculous.

You kids need to learn. Save up your money. Would you rather have a shitty camera and then show everyone, or would you rather have a decent one and have it much better? Just go do lots of stuff for cash, save up, and buy a camera.
