Well, there are a few distinct catagories of people in my unfortunite sad excuse for a living community:
1) The Junior High Kids (6th through 8th grade): They run around and play 'tag' at the county fairs, screaming at the top of their lungs, are the biggest confused crowd I know of.
2)Freshmen (High School 9th graders): Blarg...these I really cannot stand, save a few. They like to congregate in these things I call "ClusterF*cks," that seem to move like an ameoba down the hallway of your local highschool, absorbing and disturbing anything along their path-o-death, syphoning the intellegence from those too slow to move from their path....they have a tendency to communicate to one another at opposite ends of the hallway in a loud, shrilling tone, like a Wookie (what Chewbacca is) thats been going Bob Marley with some helium. I wish we could carry around little cans of "Skank-b-gone Mace" or have them put on tiny electrical dog collers...sorry if this offends any of you freshmen, but you'll think this way once your a Senior looking down.
3) People that thump their car to loud obscure angry-gangster rap music: Idiots. (Everyone knows the only thumping music work thumping is Techno, everything else sounds icky, you can thump some Union Underground if your lucky and you have a good system.)
4) Ones that hang out in coffehouses and non-ska/metal music venues to escape the harsh realities of high school: My friends.
5) Kids whos uncle and grandfather are the same person: The Kids that Sit behind us, to the left of the Special Education cl*** at lunch...these people make up roughly 20% of the school's population, sad- isn't it.
6-8)The obvious two, Preps and Goths....little misunderstanding here, I mean REALLY preppy, or REALLY Gothic.
9...ish) Some people are just pure Confused Morons, who kind of fit in no where in the sociatial structure - they try to p*** it off as wearing a Slipknot hoodie and baggy miscolored pants, and wear an Abercrombie tee underneath, with big golden chains and fake diamond-encrusted oversized watches, and a pair of $200 Pumas while trying to thump The Ramones in their Caddy. Psh...they should be maimed.
10) The normal people--a chaotic neutral (if you play D&D) cl*** of people, who don't really fit in anywhere in a group, they wear what they want - listen to what they like, and have an independent lifestyle, devoid of any cliches or steriotypes...so what they're wearing a DVS teeshirt, and some old pair of corderoy pants. Thats groovy. They listen to metal? Rap? Ska? Jazz? Emo? Rock, whatever...its all the same, if it has a groove, we'll groove to it. The ones that fall into this catagory are typically the people who you DONT want to be society's leaders, they don't care too much for a societal structure...they might live in the US, but by no means are they patriotic.
11) Outcasts: They grow up to lead your society, so next time you see a kid sitting at a table with a Linux shirt on reading a D&D players handbook, shake his hand. He might not return the kindness, but some day you might be voting for him.
Thus ends my spheal, keep skating. Love you all, except for you, you, and ooh...yeah....peace.
Blarg.

i like calling people "Trendy f*cks" ever since Jessie told me it. Oh, and now people call me a "Rebel without a care". I'm in my own group. I guess that means a skater that listens to all kinds of music, don't care much how they look, and is one of the kinda stupid-acting ones. only me and my frind thomas fit in the group around here.

This is what I refer to people as. So there is no true or false due to the fact this is my opinion. This is not meant to offend anyone.
Preps or jocks: People who think they are better than you due to the fact they get better grades, wear more expansive clothing, think they are more "popular" (I don't believe in that word) than you, are better at football, basketball, etc. They wear what's in style. The prep chicks are usually hot and the guys usually “attractive” I guess you could say. The true preppy preps comb their hair sideways. They mostly listen to pop, rock, and rap. (Think mtv, but than again I don't really know what the fug they listen to..) This group makes up of all races, but mostly whites.
Thugs: The kids who act like they are bad ***es and say they grow up in the ghetto, they wear things ***ociated with b-ball (fatheads, Nikes, bball shirts, flight jackets, etc). They have dew rags, corn rolls, and short hair. They wear really baggy clothing and sag their pants. Like preps they will usually make fun of your clothing, music, sport, etc. They listen to mostly Rap. Mostly made up of black Americans, Hispanics and wiggers.
Goths: Are the kids that mostly wear all black clothing, have wide pants, chains, mostly quiet, pretty nice and friendly. This group isn't that well understood though. Listen to death metal, gothic music, and such. Made up of whites mostly..
Punks: tight clothing and usually multi colored clothing and the such. (Ranges from black, pink, bright green, etc.) , Long spiked hair or bold is a common style. Pretty much doesn't give a fug about what people think and they do their own thing. Like Goths but more outspoken. Also made up of mostly whites.
Thrash Punk/ Skater: (1/2 me). This is perhaps the best group. They were once known as the outcast, until they formed a group over the time in which the popularity of skating began growing. Unlike other groups they didn’t care what you looked liked, wore, behaved. It was simply, do you have a skateboard? After the years skaters began to have an identity and style. And many people of all types began to inhabit it. Now this is what it has came to be. Skaters wear loose or tight clothing pending on what they’re comfortable with. Wear normal t-shirts, plaids, jeans, cargos, etc. Most own skating shoes. Lots own skate clothing, (which I don't buy due to the fact its lame if you have to wear skate clothing to say you’re a skater.) Lots of skaters wear caps with various skate companies. They have various hair that is spiked, short, long and curly, etc. Skaters are the cl*** clowns of all the groups. They don't care about reputation and popularity as much as preps do, they do what they love and that is to skate. They Listen to many forms of music that range from rock, metal, punk, rap (mostly only the black skaters like rap though, which is still cool if that what your into.), some even listen to emo (err). Skaters have a wide range of different races.
Maggot/ chaos punk: A cross from a Punk to a Goth, share similarities.
*****/ Emoer: The people that try to act like skaters, goths and punks but in reality are preps. *****s are preps that try to follow a trend of another group, They mostly listen to emo (blink 182, good charlet, avril (even though that's not emo)) and they call themselves punks and start wearing spiked bracelets and copying skaters and punks style. Most have the front of their hair spiked like a little wave thing, or make lots of little 1cm spikes on their head. They go out and spend money on DCs and act like they skate. Some will even go as far to lie and say they can skate better than you do and are sponsored by element (bullshit..). Some buy boards and walk around with it and never skate on it. They usually never get a scratch on their shoes or board. They are pretty much the scum of the earth, they act as if they are something they are not, which is totally lame in my opinion. *****s simply just follow the crowd to be cool, unlike a skater which does something he loves.
Geeks: (other 1/2 me) Geeks are like nerds but are more of the outcast, they break off into many groups like comics, anime, card games (magic, etc), chess, computers, fiction/fantasy books and movies (lord of the rings, red wall, star wars, etc). Being a geek is all about becoming something your not, or doing something that’s not in real life. Geeks often play more video games than regular people also. Geeks are often “ugly” and have braces, gl***es, and messed up hair. Geeks usually get confused with nerds, but nerds are more educated and are over achievers. Geeks later become the major foundation of the country along side with nerds. Geeks listen to computer generated music like techno. :p In my area Geeks are mostly Asian or White.
Nerds: I often get confused with being a nerd, so instead I correct them by saying.. “Its Geek..” Nerds are basically just smart geeks; they have a lot of the same things in common with geeks. But unlike geeks, nerds comb their hair sideways most of the time. As I mentioned they are over achievers and most times do extra and after school activities. Nerds later rule the government and society, as we know it. Nerds are mostly Asian or White.
This is what I think of all the groups. There are lots more subgroups that fall under these but these are what I feel are the main ones. We are all individuals, but we follow one another, because its human nature. So please ask yourself, what group do you fall under?

Differing from the common habit in Finland calling every other ppl you don't see as "Strangers" I have my own way of not to cl***ify ppl according to any attributes they might possess...
I think that comes from myself.. As I listen to just about anything from cl***ical music to death metal. The common thing in music I like is just that it should be done well and it should express something. Preferably a feeling or an idea. I also wear just about anything from a bathrobe to a suit and I could be determined to belong to an subculture or another. Only that the subculture in question may vary during the day many times... According to what I do, cannot be used to determine me to belong to any category as I like cooking, downhill skiing, skating, rollerblading, windsurfing, biking, hikin, fishing, swearing, being polite, coding, programming, studying, being lazy, not being lazy...
Things I don't like are narrowmindedness, dishonesty, aggressive behavior, alcohol and drugs of any kind (related to the above) and of course television which streams all the above (including alc and drugs) comfortably in our livingroom today...
After all that mentioned I cannot state myself to be put under any category and therefor cannot determine the category of others either..
Many of my friends might be considered to belong to some subculture or another but as I've seen it, after knowing them better they're as complex as I am so I just satisfy calling them "My friends". The "Other ppl" who often are referred to as "Strangers" here, I prefer calling them as "My Potential Friends"
That didn't EXACTLY respond to the question in this thread but it IS a point of view ;)
Have a nice day 8)
