If you want to be able to get a degree though, it comes in handy to know HTML instead of using visual things that just encode it for you. If someone's looking for someone's services, it's better to be able to encode HTML 4 instead of using DreamWeaver MX.
Onto the point though. If your looking for another free webhosting is http://www.angelfire.com . As for webbuilders, a good one that is free is 1st Page 2000, which Mike mentioned. You use HTML, but it has lots of scripts and things you can learn by, and a HTML library for easy access codes.

brinkster is the best for free , i have it, its got no pop up ads (ok a shit-e site ad, but get a tk lyke everyone else) and has ALOT more bandwidth than geo. or angelfire

i use geocities. it works for me. i used it for a school project when everyone else used frontpage cause i dont like frontpage....and html is boring.
