Since I see that most of you people are still stuck on New Found Glory and shit like that, I might as well throw the question out. Who hear digs ska? I sure as hell do. Maybe there are a few of you out there who don't listen to complete shit. Peace.

mmm.... ska! even though this belongs in music.....I thoroughly enjoy ska music. every wave and shape of it. The mighty mighty bosstones, good ska-core. Less than jake used to be ska, so did goldfinger. and they were good at it too

Ya, he did that last time someone brought up a thread about ska.

My favorite ska bands are:
(I may update this periodically)
Catch 22
Reel Big Fish
Mustard Plug
Big D and the Kids Table
Less Than Jake
Mighty Mighty Bosstones
The Specials
The Skatalites
Metaskafilies
The Toasters
The Mad Caddies

and much more, but I can't think about all that many right now and i have to leave, the bell's about to ring...

And of course my band, Bombing Cooper. Check us out at bombingcooper.te

dave, you misspelled the site. its www.bombingcooper.tk , but iys noy up yet. some of my favorite ska bands (and i know some have already been mentioned):

the mighty mighy bosstones
first ska band i ever heard. my firend gave me one of their CDs for my 10th birthday, and ive liked the bosstones and ska ever since.

bim skala bim

hepcat

the pietasters
one of the best current ska bands

less than jake
had some great older stuff. i dont much care for their new stuff

the specials
one of the most influential second wave ska bands

the pilfers

mephiskaphalese
this is the correct spelling, not davids shitty spelling.
mephiskaphelese has some of the best calling ive ever heard

big d and the kids table
another great current ska band

the toasters
you may have heard them and not known it. they did some songs for the nikelodeon show Kablam a while back

the skatalites
they were the first recorded ska band ever, but still stand up to todays standards to be regarded as one of the best ska bands in the world

bob marley and the wailers
they did some really good ska near the beginning of their carrers

fishbone
they are a ska/kinda gospel band (which i normally wouldnt like but they pull it off). this band really has their shit together.

too short notice
a local band, but o thought i would throw them in here cause they are really good. saw em live a few months ago, and it was one of the best shows ive ever been to

the slackers
a great current NYC ska band[/b]

catch 22
just great stuff

mustard plug
a really good current ska band

sublime
has a few ska songs

madness
crazy good second have ska band

rx bandits

me first and the gimmie gimmies

the hippos
a pretty good punk/sksa band

reel big fish
a lot of people dismiss these guys cause they get more coverage than some of the more underground ska bands, but they really are awesome.

the mad caddies

the blue meanies

redwood school districs
another local ska band

bombing cooper
in my opinion, the best band ever. and that isnt influenced by the fact that im in it. www.bombingcooper.tk aint up yet.

i think thats enough to start with. maybe ill post some more bands later, but i just got back from the eye doctor and she out some drops in my eyes to dialate them and now i cant see right.

oh shut up already. who cares if i listen to her? oh wait you.

johnnyrad
05-19-2003, 03:15 PM
Ya, what is with you and avril? Can't you see that all her music is prefabricated and just plain shitty? She was a skater boy? What the **** is up with that song? She doesn't know thing one about skating or the punk community yet she tries to insert herself into that community to catch an audience that feels that rebelling is the "cool thing to do", yet they are falling right into the system that has created this space just for this reason. Therefor, they are not rebelling, they are conforming and proving just wat brainless sheeo they really are. You, you are the key demographic that they search for, and you are only supporting them, in trade for a sense of power, they feeling of "rebelling", but wake up and smell the concrete shithead, you are a conformist, helping support a sellout. Congratulations.

O ya, how could I have forgotten the pietasters or bim skalla bin or the slackers or too short notice and redwood school district for that matter? Geez.

robert11
05-19-2003, 03:37 PM

Craig Himself
05-20-2003, 04:48 PM

chickaboarder13
05-20-2003, 04:50 PM

robert11
05-20-2003, 05:05 PM
so, they arent ska. you are stupid.

chickaboarder13
05-20-2003, 05:44 PM
yep sure sounds good

robiskewl
05-20-2003, 11:51 PM
right ska chords without horns isnt ska....when you say "the gimmie gmiies" are you referring to Me First and The Gimmie Gimmies? cause they arent ska. they're a cover band. and might cover some ska songs but they arent ska.

johnnyrad
05-21-2003, 03:12 PM
there is a such thing as softcore ska. but i don't reaally consider it ska.

robert11
05-21-2003, 04:31 PM
well, i think if softcore has horns its ska.

johnnyrad
05-21-2003, 11:35 PM
ya, but some doesn't and its still cl***ified as ska, like the band animal chin for example (the group, not the guy), they have GREAT ska guitar but no horns and I think of them as softcore ska.

robert11
05-22-2003, 12:30 AM
but its not ska. no horns = not ska. they are ska influenced in my opinion, but not ska.

shamoncowboy
05-22-2003, 12:36 AM
i dont know i dont think you really need to have horns, maybe technically you do, i dunno, but like the one rancid cd has some ska like songs on, like hooligans and such

shamoncowboy
05-22-2003, 02:05 AM

robert11
05-23-2003, 12:27 AM
its shit. it started being shit after that CD with the guy diving into the pool. what was it called? that was their last good one, and even that was questionable.

johnnyrad
05-23-2003, 05:04 AM
Hello Rockview, I personally liked that album, but only some of it

moon monkey
05-24-2003, 08:29 AM
so you like ska and shit? yeah they suck man, their horrible. ***chin sucks, so i have heard.

johnnyrad
05-24-2003, 04:06 PM
you sir, are a fool magoo. you obviously don't know what your talking about when you say "they suck". ska is not a group of music but a genre of music, and i know you were trying to be original, but that was straight out of cky, what you said. And no animal chin doesnt suck, anyone who tells you that is a fudge smuggler

johnnyrad
05-25-2003, 05:35 AM
