Allright soooo i pick up my guitar, shake off the dust, tune it up and start jammin on it..... a week later i'm listenin to my mom's santana cd (shaman) and am like 'let's try this' so i go to 'the tab world' and check out the tab... and think.. oh this is eazy enuff~ only a 4 fret range of notes and only on higher strings (higher pitch wise). WELL, that's what i thought... it was fairly easy after you got the tune in your head and played it through a couple of times. sooo yah know i say up playing it trying to perfect it (as in stop screwing up, get all the notes right in the right place at the right time. i'm not a perfectionist. blah!) . sooo my mom comes in and is like 'go to bed!' so i'm like ya mkay whatever.. so i put down my guitar and walk down to the kitchen to get a gl*** of sunny d, and as i'm walkin i can feel my pulse in my fingers. I drink the gl*** of sunny D and by then my fingers are hurtin to the extent where i can't ignore it. I tried runing them under water, i tried holding them tight, i trying bitting them even (kinda helped hah). So then, as i sat there staring at my red, slightly de-fingerprinted, fingers i thought HEy! let's try that green aloe stuff! sooo i get it, put globs of it on my fingers and put a cotton square things around my fingers and tape it so it stays on... soo on all of the fingers on my left had cept my pinki i had these lil finger boot type thigns with aloe.. and OMG it felt SO good on my poor fingers...

soo the conclusion
1. santanna must have very hard fingers
2. santana's music is fun to play with all the slides
3. the Aloe stuff work on sore fingers!

lol i've been playing guitar since i was in like 4th grade... i used to have calisuses (i hate that word and the thing ... BLAH) on my fingers.. kinda do now... but santana is fun to play~ so it's addicting~ so i advise people to play it! lol well michelle is on aim so i'm gonna play the song again lol bye bye

aww , but my feet, i was at Urbis today and its got these great ****in things to skate n (defo filmin der) and all these skaters were there and i wanted to skate soooo bad.

There was a pole in the street and same again all down the street, about 1metre apart from each other and about 3/4 metre high, this skater came and oliy everysingle one without stopin i was lyke :-O

try playing 'jet pilot' by system of a down it has slides using bare's. i almost ripped my index finger to bits when i was playing it but sliding is cool and so are pull offs hammers and other technical stuff.......i think i'll go play somit now...

yah.. slides are awesomes.. it's great to be able to come on here to someone who plays and knows what it's like to play... What kind of music do you like to play? i like alot of pop/punk and basically whatever i can get my hands on.. hah

i like mainly ground breaking stuff like system of a down, but i also like to play some punk (e.g. bad religion) and some cl***ic rock (e.g. nothing else matters on acoustic/'aint talking about love'-van halen) some pop punk is ok to cool u down when u've been playing for several hours, i just tabbed out some evanescence, korn, cranberries and placebo songs and use em to 'relax'

santanna is one of the greatest guitar players ever, he works the whole neck in almost every song.

i don't play the guitar, but i can see why your fingers hurt, sometimes when i think about it, my toes hurt after skateboarding... but only when i don't wear shoes.

i might have already said this but. yeah deal with it.....if you want to, you can out super glue on the tips of your fingers. it works the same as a calisus

when u play alot u usually get blisters all the time an after some time ur fingertips go rock (sorry of the pun here;)) hard like mine so i don't really have a prob with me fingers any more :)...try palying in rubber gloves or somit..........

well if you play the guitar a lot your finger naturally get hard from pressing on the strings,,,the same kinda of thing happened to me when i first started to play the guitar,,,after a while it will stop hurting anyways

why not wrap your fingers in duct tape or masking tape? i have to do that when i'm messing around with my handboard.

duck tape gets unstuck, it sticks out which is annoying>:( and it leaves ugly stains on the string an fretboard from the glue AND ur fingers get sticky..................me no like sticky fingers!

Ben if you have ever played guitar you'd know that your fingers don't get 'HARD' hard unless you are a really hardcore guitar player. finger tips will get hard inless than a month. Now if you have clefs then you have been playing awhile...Just play thru the pain....and use super glue to fill.

my fingers kinda shed the top part of the skin on the tips so it took me a few months to get them hard, it's cause of that 'fast healing' thing(see 'roof dive' thread)

man, just go to tabcrawler.com, they have beginner lessons there (although i think they suck) and u can find tabs for most songs there, the first one i ever played was 'sweet dreams' by marylin manson, try it, it's a VERY easy tune. what u should also do is download some mp3 songs and find their tabs then play along with the computer or stereo or whatever u have, most 'staind' songs are pretty easy, so are a lot of KORN songs, and marylin manson songs too
