I remember long ago in transworld or thrasher magazines when frontside used to be backside and backside used to be frontside for some tricks. Take a frontside boardslide. ITS NOT FRONTSIDE! how can it be frontside when your sliding backwards and turning backside? Whatever I dont get it. Same thing for shuvits and alot of fakie tricks too. One day people in the mags just called things *** backwards and I dont get why. U guys kno?

because thats the way they are
frontside is with your back facing it and backside is with your front facing it
its backwords i know but thats the way it is

NO, its not which way your facing while grinding, its where the rail or object is, so say you 50-50 a rail that is in front of you its frontside, but if you boardslide a rail thats in front of you its also frontside even though your moving backwards, if your regular and you do a 180 or pop shuvit clock wise its bs, and if counter clock wise (anti clock wise for ya brits) its fs, its sort of confusin, but its ez to understand, lol

ok I'll explain it to you dammit(but with flip tricks)
I don't really get the difference with b/s and f/s in gring but I got it pretty good in flips and shit.
Regular:
B/s you go in the direction of your toes
f/s direction of your back
Goofy:
f/s direction of your back
b/s direction of your toes
it's that simple take a look at some trick tip videos and you'll see.

I kno exactly what your saying but screw it how can you call it frontside when you are sliding backwards and turning backside to slide the damn rail----anyways, it used to be the opposite, but people just started calling it the way they do now a while ago..its gay

no with spins like a bs 180 for example, when u are 90 degrees into the turn then your back is facing the direction u are moving. or if its a fs 180, then 90 degrees into it your front is facing the direction your moving.
with grinds they go by whether your front or back is facing the object when your riding along side it. fs boardslide for example, while riding alongside the curb/rail your front is facing the object then u bring your nose over the rail and boardslide. or a bs 50-50, when u are riding alongside the object your back is facing the curb, then u ollie onto it and grind away. hope this clears everything up

F/s: When you turn away from yourself, say your goofy turn right.
B/s: When you turn towards yourself, say your goofy you turn left.

You guys just shut the **** UP AND ****ING LISTEN.
Fs grinds are when you're facing it.
Bs grinds are when you're grinding in back of you.
opposite with flip tricks

theres lots of confusion on this subject but zac and others basically explained it. oldscool is wrong and whoever said the same thing... ill explain it too to get it in ure heads!
grind/slide tricks...
f/s is when the ledge, rail or watever is in front of u. When u front board, ure going backwards.
b/s is when the ledge, rail, etc is behind you. blah blah..
:for AIR tricks:
f/s is when u turn, you face directly in the direction ure traveling.
b/s when ure blind to the diretion ure traveling. to help you remember that, you can call it blindside.
Now these same rules apply for nollie or fakie. Like if u do fakie b/s flip, it actually flips like a regular f/s flip and etc.
