i was readin the backside frontside thread and everyone was throwin in their two cents about it and i dont think i read one that was right, so i will tell you.
RAIL TRICKS
----------------
for rail tricks, it doesn't matter what way you slide, the only thing that makes a rail trick fs or bs on a slide/grind is where the rail/ledge is.
for example:
if you are approaching a rail and it is in front of you, like you can see the object the whole time and you need to ollie forward to get on, it is frontside. vice versa for backside.
so therfore, for a backside boardslide, you are sliding forwards because the object is behind you and you turn to slide facing forwars, yet on a backside lipslide, you slide backwards because you have to get your back truck over the obstacle, so you are spinning the opposite direction, but they are both backside.
SPIN TRICKS
---------------
spin tricks are easy to destinguish once you understand, but its hard to explain.
the best way i can explain it is whatever way the first 90 degrees is spun, that is distinguishes it.
for example:
if you do a 180, and the after the first 90 degrees, you are looking forwards, it is a fs 180 and vice versa for backside. after the first 90 degrees in a fs flip, you are looking forwards, so thats why its a fs flip. nollie, fakie and switch are the exact same. a fakie fs flip is actually spun the opposite way of a normal fs flip, but that is because you are going fakie and is usually the reason that they are called half-cab flips, i guess. i dunno.
that goes for the board too, imagine your body on the board whenever you need to find if a shoveit or whatever is fs or back side. a fs shoveit spins the same way as a fs 180.
so thats that. i know its confusing to get it through your head, but once you get it, its really easy.
and please dont come in with your theories on this because this is 100% right, go through your skate mags and use this and try and name the tricks. theyll all be right.
