This is a clip of the interlude from "My life story" which is by Luck Zero (my band), but the clip is just me...playin' at home. There's 2 guitars there, since I layered the parts. I know the layering is slightly off, so please, no comments about that. It's hard to give a full opinion of it, since you'd need a bigger clip, but Let me know if you like it.

The bandwidth is terrible on angelfire...so it's sort of a first-come first-serve thing for now. BTW, you might need to right click, and go to "Save file as..." to listen. Later.

Maybe I should, too. I've been having a flood of song ideas lately, just been to lazy to turn the computer off, mute the T.V., and sit down and write them...I need to do that....

Not really. As a fan, I am not a fan of MTV...haven't watched it in a long time, and don't plan on watching it anytime soon. HOWEVER, as an artist, your goal is always to get more listeners, through whatever means you can. If that means playing on Ricki Lake, or going on MTV, then so be it....as long as people are listening.

noh m8 you got it all wrong - as far as i see it you want respect as an artist. an mtv isnt gonna help you. you want people who know music and who know wots behind it to listen, not some 12 yr old ****s that thing theyre hardcore and listen to limp bizkit to listen to your music.
might not sound reasonable to you but it is m8.
the only upside on mtv is the osbournes but were not here to discuss that

I think I've got it fairly right. I have noticed that most people who diss on MTV are kids who are dying to be rebels, and hate the mainstream music business. I am no fan of it like I said, hell, I don't even like MTV, BUT, I'm not going to discount any artist that gets on it. They're just trying to get exposure, that is the goal of any band. Ask any music lawyer, band manager, hell, an A&R rep, or any of the most famous bands, and those bands, whether they will admit it or not, want any exposure they can. If a band wants to stay underground, and have 50 fans per show, it's all good. But if you want to get exposure, you'll lie, cheat, and steal to get it. It's no different than being offered to play a party. If someone asks me to play their, yeah, I'll say "sure"...because that develops a fan base. Now if a kid wants to diss on me, because I went to the party for exposure, so I can get my music more widely distributed, then far be it from me to stop him. It's not the 12 year old kid that matters, it's the people who enjoy your music, and want to hear more of it, and will buy your cheap Independent album when you come out with it....
In my opinion, some of the best fans ever, are the fans a band develops when they are getting a decent amount of exposure..because those fans have a certain connection with the band. Unfortunately ALL fans, everyone, come and go.
Now, you seem cool to me for the most part, but unfortunately a 15/16 year old drug user is not the best person to take music career advice from. If I want advice, I'll call up my friends Drowning Fish, and ask for their help...they have experience in the business.
And as flaky as fans are nowadays, ESPECIALLY in the pop-punk scene, respect is only going to come from having quality music..that's all that makes you stand out anymore. That's all my goal is: To have quality music that people hear. Whether the crowd's are 50 people, or 5,000..I guess we'll see...

u just have to take in as much info as u can as ur getting started, like i had no idea before that ur right arm is for keeping the beat (the drummers will understand, i love doing that with the hihat especially during rests -e.g. guano apes'you can't stop me') while u can do f4ck all with the rest of ur limbs as long as it's steady an in beat

Thanks. The reason I didn't post more, is because it's a pop-punk song, so that verses/choruses are just the same ol' power chords, but since we're a 2 guitar band (lead, rhythm), I am re-writing the parts, to be a bit more interesting, and flow better with that interlude. The progression will be based off that interlude you heard. Right now it sounds good as a whole song, but it just sounds like you cut 2 songs in half, and placed the halves together...which is why I am redoing stuff..

if you are writing a song down...type it up, because you can type faster than you can write(if you have been typiing for a long time

I have been writing a fairly long time..I both write and type my stuff. Typing is fine and dandy, but to me, not as "real". I have a Songwriting notebook (80 pgs..nearly filled now), that I take with me most places I go..so if I get a random idea, I can write it down before I forget it. Typing up lyrics makes me feel sort of weird..opposed to sitting down in my room with my guitar on my lap, and the notebook next to me- that makes me feel like a somewhat respectable musician.
