i bought a hibbet sports board when i was in the 8th grade (im in 11th now) and i would mess around with it in the grass tryin to do kickflips and ollie and stuff, and then in 9th i got my dad to make me a little 3ft mini ramp in our barn so i got decent on that, but i just got my first real board this past christmas i just now started ridin some street and learning some flip tricks this past summer.

thats exactly why skatebaording is so much harder then any other sport. people say BMXing is hard, and so is blading, well elt me tell you something. i got sponsored (small time, for a local bike shop) like 3 or 4 years agho for dirt jumping, but i onlt learned how to dirt jump 5 years ago. so in one or 1.5 years about i was sponsored, and could do can cans, bar spins, x ups, tailwhips, variations, whatever. ive been skating for over a year and a half, but only doing tricks for a little over a year, and only doing new school for about 2 months. i can shove it and ollie, thats it. and i skate EVERYDAY unless its raining. skateboarding is about 3 things and 3 things only, if u can master these u will be pro: timing, balance, and confidence. it sounds easier than it is, cuz kickflipping., a basic trick, requires perfect timing and balance. one half second off, and it wont spin right, if at all. tthats why skating is hard.

it takes people a long time, it takes others a short time...it's alll about how how much you practise certain tricks, spend skateboarding, how your feeling and how your attitude is towards not landing it. If you give up after taking a few slams, then you will never progress through skateboarding. If you get frustrated that you carnt do it, then the trick will take an extra month to learn because your feet dont work properly when your pissed off. Finally, it's not about how much you practise tricks, you could be practising and just doing it wrongly (not pushing round right)

I've been skating for 4 years and it took me about three months to land a kickflip, but before that, I tried heelflips. I landed a perfect one in a week, even though they seemed alot harder to flip. So I went back to kickflips and landed one, first try. Just to help, try both of these for a week, or until you land one, then try the other. It seemes to be easier to land both after you land one, then the other.

i find that if u spend ages learning to kickflip then u can do them more consistently and with greater style (lifes mysteries), so dont give up if its taking ages.

it took a year for me to learn kickflips, no joke, and i still **** em up a lot, dont forget when u see pros do them, its on film usually so theyv had many a try at it b4 they land 1 etc etc... so that goes to show that sum pros hav to re-learn tricks while there doing the gap etc.. sorry random quote there... anyway yer i can land varial flips but i dont like htem there so hard to get consistently... :(
