an older manual SLR would be good to start on, that's what i started with, still use it at the minute, my personal preferance is Pentax, because there are so many lens manufacturers using the pentax K-mount for their lenses, plus pentax cameras and pentax fitting lenses are cheap. so all in all you win

Pentax... I guess. Not the best variety of bodies and not too many options for motor drives or flash syncs. Im also sure there arent any interchangeable viewfinders for them.

oh dear... another nikon *****

haha, just kidding

but seriously, to me it doesn't sound like he's going to take this all too seriously, when i take photography alot more seriously, i'll probably hit up a Canon, probably in the higher spec EOS range

Nikon. Its pretty much the standard. I miss mine very much. Digital has replaced quality with quantity, although I have to admit digi is getting very sharp, It just lacks realism. We have trained our eyes to see what we want making fooling them an easy task. Get a nikon, look in the classified ads in your local paper. Look daily for a while and you should find somthing. 6006 has a great little body with a fairly fast auto advance. You should be able to find one for around 75 dollars.
Also try fugichrome color positive film. Slides are the shit.

hey rasta have you got any pics?

oldskool -

Listen to him ^ he kind of knows what hes on about choose a cheapo nikon or canon now and then see where photography takes you i doubt very much that you'll take a single good shot of nature with a cheap camera but it's easy to take a good skate photo.

Guys... keep the drug and drug related accessories conversations to a minimum or I am going to have to close it. The 6006 is an alright camera but I purchased a Nikon F4s and am picking it up at Christmas while I'm in Toronto. I can't wait to get my hands on it. I am shooting with a Nikon F55 right now and it does the job... but its just not overly sharp, sync of 1/90 kills me, and lack of PC terminals and a motor drive of 2.2 FPS isnt cutting it for me.

Look into the Nikon F4s or F90x or N90s if you want budget decent cameras from Nikon. Canon A2e, EOS 5, EOS1n in the budget Canon ranges. If you want top gear... Nikon F5 or Canon EOS 1nRS.
