Heres a good tip: when you are just getting ur first good board, DONT GET FAST BEARINGS! Fast bearings are ur enemy when u are just learning how to skate. Believe me, i know. Get bearings that are like abec 3 or something, and tighten em up when you want to learn to ollie, or else ur board might fly straight out from under you. After you get good at ollies, try loosening them a little bit, then ollieing and learning to control the board. Then loosen, then learn to ollie and control the board. Soon you will be able to have loose bearings and be able to land ollies.:D

ok yea i know what you mean by fast bearings cause i tried to ollie on my friends board and he has nice bearings they are shortys or something like that and board slipped right out from under me.

Yea i have trouble with all decks inc. Shorty's, Powell, Zero, Toy Machine, Alien Workshop (i owned all them), they top pro boards but they don't last long because well they just don't wit me, but i thought i'd try a Lib Tech board they made from fiber glass, soft wood, birch wood, perspex and plastic all mixed tageatha, it's holding up well and has super pop!,
check them out on libskate.com (i think that's the site),

all right jack, i suggest you get a medium sized board (7.75, 31) like a think because i hear you like the logo. get some 57mm zero wheels (you can roll over some rocks), and some fury trucks, and also get some lucky abec 3 bearings. get shortys siverados hard ware (or any other hard whare w/ a colored bolt) and a set of riser pads.:p :)

Get what ever suites you really,
but my opinion is:
Deck: Alien Workshop = light weight, flip well, pretty strong and good for beginners
Wheels: Pigs = grip well, powerslide well and last long
Trucks: Krux = Very Light = you get more height on tricks etc and also grind well and last long
Bearing: Bones Redz = smooth, fast and last v. long
but i suggest abec 1's or 3's for a begiiner they'll last for now no point splashing out all that money on skateboarding just yet when you only started,

:osince you are starting out, maybe give this a try:
bearings:bones reds $10-$12 mark:) ,they roll pretty good and are pretty inexpensive
board:since you are starting, maybe try a blank first, between $15-$25:) ,in some cases, they are just as good as the pro boards, just without a pro graphic that will come off anyway, unless you collect them for it's artistic value. maybe a 7.75-31.if you have a bigger foot, you might want to try a wider width on the board, until your foot position feels comfortable.:D i have a size 12-13 shoe,so i prefer a 9" width to a 10.5. if you skate far,it will be to your benefeit and comfort!:) ;)
trucks:everyone has preferences, some like lighter trucks for better flips, some like a medium weight[to balance out the board],and others prefer a wider hanger,it makes grinding a lot easier.:) since this is sometimes weighed by how much trucks cost, buy and try what you can afford.:D if you are a heavier person,200lb+,you may consider getting some grind king kingpins for your trucks,as in the long run, they will save you $ and worries.if your friends are willing, ask them if they can lend you their trucks for a day or two.:p ,if you do this with multiple friends, you will find a truck weight that will best suit your skating style.
risers:simple rubber risers[about $1 each],will add more life to your deck,as they will provide shock absorbtion better than just putting your trucks directly onto your deck. you risk more stress cracks and your trucks will move more if you don't have these.1/4" should be fine:) !
hardware:you can go to a regular hardware store and get the SAME bolts that are sold for 2-3times what they would normally cost at a skate shop..just in plain ol' silver.a set of 8 with bolts will run under a $1.50 for all, depending on what your hardware store is selling them at.:D any 1-1 1/4" machine head screw will do fine.
wheels:depending on where you live,if the streets are cracked, you may want to go with a wider wheel..this makes rolling over small cracks and rocks ALOT easier.if you have smoother streets,a narrower wheel would work best for speed.:D spitfires are great light wheels, but skate shop blanks will work just as good, just without the graphics that will EASILY fall off anyway:mad: .plus, you save some extra $ that you could use to buy some stickers to decorate your board with.
hope this helps!:D
