Topic is a lil cliche but **** it. Here's my list:

1. 2Pac - No explanation needed, if you know what Pac was about 'outside' of the music world you'd understand. No one will EVER be on top of Pac or equal. 2Pac was the Don.

2. Run D.M.C. - Jumpstarted mainstream hip-hop

3. Notorious B.I.G. - First rap album to go diamond(10X Platinum), he didn't sell that many for nothing.

4. Eminem - I don't feel his music is better than some of the 5-10 artists but he will be remembered forever as the white boy who made it and broke down the wall. Definately one step forward in hip-hop.

5. KRS-One/Boogie Down Productions - Outspoken and kept it real and somewhat underground.

6. Wu-Tang Clan - Revolutionized group hip-hop

7. N.W.A. - Hardcore gangsta rap, may not have been the first to do it, but definately the best at it

8. Nas - Pure poetry

9. Eric B. and Rakim - One of the few old school artists that I can listen to today and groove to

10. Talib Kweli - Just all around good flow, feel, and lyrics.
