I've been a less than jake fan since I was fairly little, and my brother has been one for a good 10 years (he got me into them)...they have my vote as a band to check out.

Also, a newer one, would be the Suicide Machines, but I'm sure you've heard of em' before..

haha...nice rob..

Yea, Less than Jake kicks ass, in my opinion. It takes a tiny bit of getting used to, but once you hear em', you sort of get hooked. Here's some good songs..

-"Dopeman" (popular..used to play on mtv I think?? Great song, still)
-"9th and pine" (Somewhat unknown, great song)
-"Just like frank" (Not sure if it's well known to the general public, but to LTJ fans..it's a classic)

I haven't found an LTJ song I DIDN'T like so far. I have two of their CD's, and the newest one that I bought, I didn't really like it at first, cause I was listening to it while I was busy with other things. I then finally forced myself to sit down and listen to only the CD, and I like it a lot. For Suicide Machines...

-"Hey Ska" (Kick ass cruising song. I listen to this when riding around with a friend (friend as in one..because I don't have a back seat in my CRX :))

-"New girl" (Very popular..of THPS 1 I think....maybe two...)

-"It's the end of the world as we know it (and I feel fine)" (A cover, obviously, but it's a great cover. Listen to it a few times, and it becomes better and better. Learn the lyrics, and sing it when people are around, and they'll be like "duuude, that's fast!". Obviously, it's a fast song..)

-"High society" (One of the more unknown songs, but really good)

If you have seen the movie "Brink!" from Disney (hey, it's been a while, but I did see it!!), then if you remember the song at the beginning, it is by the suicide machines. "Look before you leap" is the title. That's the song that got me into listening to em'. Oh well, I'm done now :)

I'm not sure what you're asking zero..but the cover I am referring to is done by the Suicide machines. As far as I know, LTJ has nothing to do with it (unless they too, did a cover).

I consider goldfinger Ska. Listen to their guitar...for example, "Superman", or "Here in your bedroom"...VERY ska-like guitar. Sure, no horns in "Here your bedroom" (I don't think so, at least), but it's still very, very much ska.

The other stuff could be considered punk, I'm sure..but who really gives a damn? Just listen to the music..no worries about how to classify them!

goldfinger used to be hella ska. and then they got rid of their horns. now they are minor ska.

and was that kid serious about the strokes? whoever posted taht, were you just being an ass, or have NEVER heard ska before?

Okay, the only actual ska artist posted was Bob Marley. Whenever anyone says "ska" nowadays, they always connect it with punk-ska. And even if we're talking about punk-ska, the Strokes? C'mon, man, the Strokes rock, they're one of my all-time favorite bands, but they are definately not ska. But yeah, ska rules, whether it's punk-ska, reggae-ska, or true ska.
