Wow have you guys seen the new digital DVD cameras out? They actually record on a regular DVD and you can put them right in you DVD player! I saw them in the future shop flyer - . I think they'll be a nice replacement to "digital cameras" becaues they only use tapes which aren't digital lol :D

I'll stick with my TRV18 for now and if I ever plan on moving up a VX2000 will do my job. I question the quality on those DVD cams and I also question how much time they can record. Something cool would be those new DSLR cameras. Like that Nikon D2h... ohh damn I want one with that 10.5mm fisheye. Hey Steve, you feel like sponsoring me as an "Official Ramprage Photographer." It will only cost you $6-7000 USD. Come on... its an amazing opportunity for me to push traffic to the site.

muhah yes traffic.... erhem neway yea the dvd camera hmmm...we'll see i doubt it will catch on in skateboard media 16mm is making to large a comeback and the digital film at the moment will suffice...what do you think happens if you jog the camera when you are filming.... doesnt portray to much of a snazzy picture :S

probably pretty good just for piss about stuff

Definitley a consumer soccer mom idea to have DVD camcorders... Thats my view on it... I would love to see one with a Century Death lens on the front ;)

I doubt the dvd camcorders will be easily editable...unless it has some kind of dvd-rw in it...if that exists.

Just put the DVD in the computer and upload to the computer and edit it. Would be very easy. But, the DVD-RW's cost a whole hell of a lot. But, it's a lot easier and very, very cool.

Actually DVD burners are only about $250 Canadian now - it's the media that's expensive! I think it's $30 per recordable DVD!

Thats probably DVD-Rs ben. They are a lot cheaper. Theres a big difference with DVD-R's, DVD-RW's, and DVD+RW. Im still confused on how the whole system works.

Steve.. you still haven't answered my request for sponsorship. LOL!!!

That's what I was talkin' about, Steve. A lot of new computers come with DVD burners already installed. My new computer I just bought came with one.

Yeah I hear ya snaker :)
Does it work well? I've never tried one!

LOL Mike! Umm yeah that would be tight if I had a few extra grand under my pillow but I don't, not yet anyways ;)

When I do, you'll be one of the guys on my list to ask if they want it lol!

We've only tried to burn one DVD so far, and you can hear and kinda see it, but the sound is very garbled, to the point where you can't understand it, and the quality of the video is so bad you can't see it. You have to be good at computers to understand what you're doing, so I'm gonna play with the program's setting and try to get it to work right. I'm sure it will work great after I tweak some things and change some settings.

Mini dv and dvcam are digital .. the reason those are considered digital tapes because the record voice and data in one syncronized stream and binary ...binary = digital media .. whatever it may be ..

i wouldn't recommend the dvd camera because you'll end up spending alot of money on dvd disk's and they will be a bit tough to work witrh because what will u export to when u have your finished product ? usually in any professional standard you export to 3/4 inch tapes , but no one here has that .. so most ppl export to there cameras to have a physical copy on tape at all times of the finished product ... dvd camera's are great for "Go , Son " filming , like when u film your son's first baseball game or something but for editing purposes i would never recommend anything like that .. ill ask my director and see what he says about it .. and post a reply again , he always hasa great explanation of things for topics of these type..

Huh... tapes in digital cameras ARE digital, its not cause old tapes where analog that they all are, you can record digital data on tapes just like tape drives for computers, my tape drive can store up to 90GB on 1 tiny tape.
